I made a reservation online, because it was for a 'meeting' of sorts and I wanted soft chairs and ample space. I was told we'd be seated by the firepit. The firepit, is atop a table. That's exactly what I wanted. But I had to call to confirm the reservation since I never received a confirmation.
It was extremely noisy when we got there. Once the place emptied out a bit it was better, but overall, the seating arrangements leave a lot to be desired with respect to comfort and privacy.
No one showed me to the table when I went to the counter to say I had a reservation. And there was nothing marking it as reserved. The firepit was not lit up. No one asked us if we wanted it lit since no one really acknowledged us. And it's not that I expected a waiter, but no one greeted us, said here is the pit and how to use it or ask us if we wanted it operational.
When I ordered my green tea latte, no one could tell me what kind of sweetener was used in them so I got it without one since I didn't want an artificial one and couldn't be assured one way or the other what the ingredients were. Then, when the drink was ready, it was just left on the counter next to someone else's order, unmarked. Not very service or customer oriented here. Had I not heard amidst all that noise the faint sound of someone saying 'latte', I wouldn't have even known it was ready.
I would have gotten something to eat, but the ready-made desserts looked sugary and were nothing special. And already feeling as though something was off here, I decided to forgo my plans to get warm food.
It's about service. When you make a reservation, request the firepit, and it is not lit up, and the place is cold and no one cares if you are getting what you reserved a spot for,, and your drink is not quite what you want it to be because those making it have no idea what they are serving, and don't care if you get your drink at all once they've made it, well, let's just say this is just a place with no real atmosphere or charm, or anything at all that makes it one I will ever go back to.
I wonder if anyone will actually ever figure out what a real coffee shop/meeting place ought to feel like. I suppose if all you want is to stop in and grab a quick cup, these things don't matter, but I don't need to pay $7 for a quick cup of anything. I could have made 7 green tea lattes at home for what I paid for the one I got. I wanted a place where I could have a cozy, comfortable meeting, with some quality food and drink. This place failed on almost all counts.
Americans don't seem to care about service and quality. And for the record, I've lived here my entire life, and I'm old enough to remember when things were different.
To top it off, we were asked to leave as someone had reserved the entire space for a private party. I'm sure the firepit was lit up...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places in the North Hills. I love to meet people here, I love to come and work here, I love to come and study here, the vibe is fabulous.
I don’t have a ton of pictures of the actual restaurant itself interestingly enough, BUT they do live music and wine flights/flatbreads every Friday night and I do have pictures of two different bands. Lol.
The location has sort of a classy rustic feel. There’s a lot of great seating variety. if you’re coming to work remotely, there are several great places you can use. They have a communal table as well as a computer bar with overhead lights which is great if you have to hop on a video call.
If you’re looking to catch up and chat with friends, they have a fire pit that can be turned on at request with really comfy chairs . there’s also some comfy leather seats if you’re looking to sit and have coffee or catch up with a friend.
Wanna grab lunch? They’ve got plenty of seating as well.
We’ve also use this location for an event and their catering and care was amazing.
They have wine, ice cream, coffee, breakfast, lunch/dinner, and...
Read moreThe Fat Guy is a little coat latte was awesome. The flavors and quality of the coffee were creative and delicious. The atmosphere was super cute and there was a huge variety of wholesome sandwiches (breakfast & lunch) and salads made in house and best of all… ICE CREAM AND WINE 😍 I think my favorite thing of all is the seating area. It was so cool to see a lively coffee shop with people sitting, chatting and working (there’s multiple high top bars to sit at and plug your computer in from easy access outlets). There’s not many, if any, coffee shops in town like this one. It reminded me of the type of “hidden gem” coffee shop you would find in a trendy college town or city! The wine available in store is sold by the bottle, there’s signs in the booths that say they will be adding wines and shareable menu items and desserts that you’ll be able to enjoy on premise! I’ll have to come back to try more drinks, food, (Hershey’s) ice...
