1st time customers, so I called in an order around 2 pm on 2/26/21 asking for 8 ground beef soft corn shell tacos with onions only (they do not have cilantro) for 2 starving adults that hadn't ate all day. I'm used to Mexican restaurants in East Lansing, so I expected the average hand held tacos where you could easily scarf down 3-4 tacos easily. I pick up the order & it's placed in a box weighing at least 10 lbs. My 1st thought, what in the heck did I order?! So, I get home, open up the 3 big styrofoam containers and they are fully loaded. It wasn't just the onion I asked for. They had tomato, lettuce w/cheese melted on the lettuce?! I thought that was odd & dealt with the dairy issue later. Now, by this point I'm hoping my husband is really really hungry because this is a lot of food! And, as far as authentic, welllllllI, I would call this comfort food with a Mexican flair. The ground beef had a chunk of potato here & there & maybe some beans mixed in? Even the cheese melted on the lettuce was oddly delicious, not a soggy mess that you'd expect. My favorite part was that the soft corn shells appear to be homemade with a bonus 3 lb pack of corn tortillas on the side wrapped in foil (not sure why but I'll put them to use another day). Also, 2 huge containers of salsa verde which is a bit watery, but it pulled it's weight in taste. Final Verdict- This was way too much food for 2 adults. 2 tacos/person is sufficient with only 1 container of salsa verde on the side. The tacos come super stuffed, so the best way to eat them is with a fork//+++5* out of 5+++ for taste +++ ///+++3 out of 5*+++customer service rating for having to deal with a dairy issue after requesting onions only w/the waitress repeating the order back as stated. Plus, the waitress not thanking me for leaving her a tip after paying is a big no no in my book. However, we...
Read moreYou get a LOT OF FOOD for a REALLY LOW price!!! I live in Florida, and this restaurant is in Michigan, so there are definite differences. The first difference is the seasoning of the ground beef... I am NOT implying in ANY WAY that it wasn't good. It's just different than what I'm used to. I am used to AUTHENTIC Mexican food, so that could be the whole issue. The other differences were the tortilla chips (served with salsa as an appetizer). I'm used to thin, light, and airy chips, and theirs appear to be made in-house, and they are thicker than I'm used to. The 3rd difference is that they provide you with tortillas, so you can put your dinner inside them and roll them up like a burrito or a quesadilla, which is an AWESOME idea. They serve them in a basket and place them on the table for all to share. The waitress even went 1 step further and asked if we wanted 1/2 flour tortillas & 1/2 corn tortillas or 1 or the other. My sister, who comes from Arkansas, also noticed these same differences. The restaurant does not serve any alcohol, which is the only other difference. I...
Read moreThe food was not good at all, a lot of the food clearly has ingredients that aren't meant to be there and the seasonings they use are very strange and I can't even guess what was put in it, the taco beef was ground...and it tasted salty and like cheese a little bit? The gravy had me perplexed, it had a confusing sweet potato flavor but the color made it look really good. The service is wonderful though!! The chefs are incredibly quick and the waitress I got was so so sweet and me feel very welcomed!! I also wanna mention that the food is very affordable and I feel like I paid a reasonable price for what I got and i do see that there are people there who genuinely enjoy this mysterious food and for them I bet it's an amazing deal!! And the singular taco I got was a whole lot, they will really fill your plate!!
There was one thing I really did like, it was the Jalapeño salsa Verdé!! Just if you order it you should probably ask...
