Culinary Professional Pit Master Blake is on Fire in Martin, TN. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you can see the busy atmosphere of guests . The rustic, vintage building from days gone by is a beautiful upscaled building . The moment you walk in the door, you're wowed by the amazing , rustic, vintage , historical decor . The host & staff make you feel welcomed, plus the wait to dine is an easy process for the food you're about to eat . Now, having 6 years of restaurant experience myself , I am impressed at how Chef Blake runs a top-notch customer service atmosphere. Come hungry, you will want to eat an appetizer, entree, plus dessert . I tried the Boubon Maple Deviled eggs , and they were so good , very light , you got a hint of the maple bourbon, I would like to see the sauce drizzled over them more . Grab these delightful deviled eggs as an appetizer. OMG ❗️ ALERT , there is not one BBQ selection of meats that will disappoint you . Mouthgasam is what's ahead , the smoke flavor , textures. Run Of The Mill sampler platter is where you get the biggest bang for your buck . Choices are as follows copied from the menu online . Brisket, pulled pork, turkey, pork ribs, sausage link, choice of sides, jalapeno cornbread juices, sauces, will have you wanting more . The sauces chef Blake has is very unique in different textures , which will give your taste buds a whole new level of 5 star experience. I will say I wished Chef would offer a sweet BBQ sauce that's compatible with store brand but in culinary professional level . I would like to see Chef add a toast item for the pulled pork on the tray . So now you have to eat his fresh baked bakery selections, I Love the New York Cheesecake Chef has in his display case . You will not wanna drive to the Cheesecake Factory ever . Got young Buccaroos , you will have no problems getting them to eat here . I saw a lil girl smashing her Mac N Cheese like nobody's buissness. She was laughing , entertaining, plus eating a 5 star Mac N Cheese experience. So I encourage you to get up , road trip it to Martin, TN downtown , you will not be disappointed to eat at Blake's.

It’s a drive but is definitely worth it. This is only my second visit here but I’m down for a 3rd, 4th etc. First of all such a beautiful and unique building. The history and the original interior still there which I didn’t take pictures of but hey, means you should go lol. Then the food. Blakes probably has the most affordable sampler bbq platter especially with the quality of food you get. Freaking $28 for brisket, pulled pork, turkey, pork ribs, sausage link, choice of two sides, jalapeno cornbread. That is a steal!!!! (Bologna in pic I got additional a la carte 🤤)The brisket is very black pepper forward. (Not Zavala’s level black pepper) Last time a year ago I thought I might be just the slice I got but 2/2 times and both home runs in my book. Turkey is wonderfully moist and smoky. The ribs bit perfectly and I love the sauce in the house sauce with it. The corn bread had this cake like moisture and texture that balanced the bits of jalapeño. Oh I’m also a sucker for what I think is a sour cream based potato salad. Helps keep the fork moving with all these fatty meats. THE BEST PIMENTO CHEESE with garlic seasoned crackers. The cheddar with the pimento peppers and whatever else magic is in there. I could eat a whole charcuterie board of this stuff. And I’m only here for the barbecue. Seeing and smelling the other food on the menu being served and taken to other tables made me drool. When people talk about hidden gems off the beaten path Blake’s at Southern Milling is the definition.

This place has an awesome building and a crazy amount of room. We were told our wait would be 15 minutes, was maybe a minute. Our server was very friendly and started out attentive. We came toward the end of the evening and we're told up front of 2 or 3 items that had ran out earlier, which was fine. Once we ordered, it seemed like our food took a bit longer than it should ti come out, and when it did, it was luke warm at best. Felt like it had sat, waiting to be picked up for a few minutes. At first when our meals were brought out, I was brought the wrong order. This was corrected in a couple minutes, but my order was missing an item, which I was only told about after asking, that it (sausage link) had also ran out, so extra of another item had been substituted, without my knowledge. We had the fried pickles, which were amazing! The BBQ sampler plate, which tasted fine, but on the cold side, and didn't gave a sample of everything. And the Bubba Cole, which my wife says was very good, but on the cold side as well. When we were done, we could not get our waitress because she was engaged in an animated conversation for about 15 minutes. In all, we are more disappointed with our service and communication about the food availability than the temperature of the food. The bubba cole tasted great, just a little cold. The fried pickles are different and a must. The mac n cheese, fried Brussels and baked beans were also very good.

Okay. First of all…you will NEVER find better BBQ than you will at Blake’s. Sometimes writing reviews seems a little bit like work. But I couldn’t wait to write this one. This was our second visit to Blake’s and it was just as phenomenal as the first time. Mom had the ribs and they were fall-off-the-bone tender. I had the brisket and some sliced sausage. The brisket was succulent and the sausage was stuffed with jalapeños and cheese. My son had the chicken tenders which he tried with the Alabama white sauce and waffle fries. Said it was the best he ever had. My wife had the pulled pork which she described as melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The house salad, potato salad, and baked beans were amazing. We had blackberry cheesecake and snickerdoodle cookies for dessert which was a perfect ending to the meal. Never had better. The sweet tea was southern perfect. The cornbread was moist like cake. The staff is always SO friendly and the wait staff is super attentive. I’d like to give a big shoutout to Abbie and Kylie who handled us like seasoned pros. Never had an empty glass or empty plate until we were ready to pay and leave. The prices are just what you’d expect for food this delicious. If anything they are undercharging. Blake did a wonderful job decorating the place. The interior is enormous which is good because there is always a full parking lot there. He did a super-good job staying true to the rustic feel of the place and honoring the old Southern Milling motif. Some of the vintage wooden doors were kept along with the original exposed brick walls. They decorated with some beautiful antique furniture and accoutrements. It still manages to have a first rate atmosphere with all the rustic charm. Whoever you are and wherever you are from. Blake’s at Southern Milling is worth your time, attention, and money. This restaurant ranks among the top tier of local cuisine. I’d expect to find this type of food and service in high-dollar big-city establishment. Definitely better than all the big chain restaurants like Outback and Red...
