I feel really conflicted writing this review. The sandwiches here are phenomenal - 5 stars. However, the owner’s integrity is what led me to leave a one star review. In my previous job, I was in charge of ordering food for meetings. I ordered frequently at Lucia’s (they’re a local small business and their sandwiches taste amazing - what’s not to love?) but one time I ordered to the wrong location. I called in and they told me that there’s no way to cancel but that they’d refund me. They told me to put the same order in again at the correct location. Flash forward a couple of months, as I’m going through my expenses, I realize I was never refunded. No worries, probably an honest mistake I thought. I called the store and asked to speak with Randy (the owner) around 10 times. He was coincidentally “not available” every time at either location. I then got his email and started emailing him - he never responded to a single email or voicemail. I am very disappointed by the lack of integrity and honesty and just the way this entire situation was handled. I have always supported local and small businesses but this...
Read moreI had the Za'atar, walnut pesto, Burrata, tomato, pickled Onions & greens with Turkey (not chicken, because they ran out (it was afternoon, no big deal)) sandwich and I found it very underwhelming. The turkey itself seemed like the very cheapest turkey that one could buy at Costco or Walmart. No flavor at all, no substance, the kind that turns to mush in your mouth. Meanwhile, I know I can get pretty good sliced oven roasted turkey at Whole Foods for like $14 a pound. I wish they would have put .5 pound of that on the sandwich, which cost $16.50. Really!?!?!? The sandwich looked pretty phat and tasty, like the pictures on their website, but it was 85% bread and the other ingredients on the sandwich were also mostly tasteless, which means they were probably not very fresh, just saying. Sorry. I wanted to like it, but... maybe I should have got a...
Read moreThis place is in a nondescript shopping complex next to a Safeway. The people at the counter are fairly friendly though not hugely welcoming.
The sandwiches are huge, especially the cold ones. My friend got the chicken breast which was on focaccia and was probably big enough for 2 people. The prosciutto also looked similar. I got the Lucia’s Club which was Turkey and bacon w/avocados and tomatoes and lettuce on sourdough bread and wasn’t very large.
My sandwich was OK…nothing great…a bit greasy.
My friend seemed to really like his chicken breast sandwich so maybe the cold ones are better.
Prices seemed a bit high at first ($14-16 each) but since most sandwiches seem to be able to feed 2 people, it is a decent value.
Not sure it is destination but worth visiting if...
