The absolute WORST service I’ve ever received. Waited 30 minutes to waited on (which was the only time we saw our waitress, other than when we received hour food over an hour later) I ordered wings, chips and macaroni salad) the macaroni salad was HOT. The wings were RUBBER. My chips were BURNT. My cousin ordered a medium RARE steak, which was well done. I requested my waitress take the cheese fries off of my bill, since I never received my appetizer. I literally had to wave the owner down across the floor just for napkins. Our drinks were NEVER refilled. MULTIPLE wait staff walked by our table several times. Not once were we checked on. Not once. We had to go up front just to pay for our bills, in which the owners replied “ you pay with your waitress” and when I tried to explain why we never recieved our bill, all of a sudden our waitress appears out of nowhere, and completely cuts me off and states “ I was too busy” the owner did not care what so ever!!!! I paid $43 for the absolute WORST dining experience ever!!! Never have I been so disrespected, by someone and for the owner of the business to not even care about their customers...
Read moreHugo's restaurant is where you go when the retirement home you live in let's you out for a romp about town. It's primary clientele are basically geriatrics. Insofar as being a sports bar, well, it does have a wide screen TV. But navigating the steps down to the bar with your walker would be quite the ordeal. But down in the bar area is where the restroom is located -- well, I should call it a water closet -- it's that small. And the only sports I can see its patrons playing would be shuffleboard, bridge, or Bingo. The food is inexpensive and sufficient and the staff is adequate, but even being geezer that I am, I am not ready for a seniors' menu with $7.00 entree and two sides options. This place, however, is preferable to a Denny's at 4 o'clock in the afternoon with its "blue plate specials." In a few years, i may have my caregiver wheel me into Hugo's for some soup or mashed potatoes and gravy. Believe it or not, it stayed quite busy while I was there -- the draw is obviously the inexpensive menu. Servers and managers know the customers by name and food and beverage preferences, which I...
Read moreNever ever eat here! This restaurant must be the worst one in town. I’ll never forget coming here with the three people i was with. I left with shock, and embarrassment for this establishment. We come in wait 20 min before we are seated, multiple waitresses sitting on there phones, bar and restaurant clearly aren’t busy. We wait another 20 minutes for drinks. And another 30 for food. We only got appetizers, but in our appetizers we found a 6inch long blonde strand of hair baked into the spinach and artichoke dip. On top of that the spinach dip, and french fries were cold. By the time we talked to the manager, we ended up not getting our entrees and just leaving. Martinsville is a small town, but people love small towns. Martinsville could make a lot of money and become a great city, if maybe we had some better service and people who cared. These small establishments could be what puts us on the map, and let’s tourism come and see our beautiful historic town. For the experience that’s what everyone wants. So hate on me for this rant but...
