Beware! The staff will short change you if you're not careful. The Ashland Cafe has always been a favorite of my elderly parents so I take them there a few times each month. Today after taking my mom in for a late lunch; I made a four dollar cash purchase. I handed the guy behind the counter a twenty dollar bill and he only gave me a dollar in change. When I told him I had given him a twenty; he insisted I gave him a ten and only gave me six dollars in change. I told him I was very uncomfortable with the transaction and again told him I gave him a twenty. He then offered to review the security footage and I agreed thinking I would be able to see it and after about fifteen minutes he reappeared and said the security footage showed me giving him a ten. I knew this couldn't be possible so I asked to see the footage, which he refused. I asked to see a manager; he told me he was the manager. Since he was escalating the situation and I was not going to continue fighting him over being shortchanged ten dollars; I left in disgust. Anyone who knows me, knows I don't make mistakes and I would have happily apologized if the security footage showed me giving him a ten and not a twenty. The fact that he would not show me the security footage, that there was not a manager there to verify the security footage and the fact that he tried to just give me a dollar in change to begin with is all very fishy. If you or your elderly parents dine there; beware of the people at the cash register and make sure they are giving you the...
Read moreThis was my very first time ordering from this location. My co worker and I ordered breakfast. I ordered online and got a croissant , bacon , egg and cheese, also asked for ham to be added. Total came to a little over 7$ from 4.99 posted
I received my order and the sandwich was nothing of what I asked for. Just a dry croissant, two strips of bacon cut into thirds and a bland egg. Absolutely no cheese or ham that I requested.
I called the location to inform them of the mishap and was told they have different prices on different websites. First red flag ! I then explained that the price was fine I was concerned about having an inedible breakfast , where is the cheese ? He explained the section asking if I wanted “extra cheese” was where I had to click to be charged an extra dollar for cheese. This verbiage is extremely confusing as it’s asking if I want EXTRA and cheese is included in the breakfast sandwich description.
The person on the line continued to tell me it’s extra for cheese and he doesn’t know why it’s different verbiage or pricing listed on different sites for the same restaurant. I even expressed this was my first time ordering and that this was terrible customer service. This location did not care at all. Even telling me it was “ok” and it indeed is NOT. My coworkers and myself will no longer order from this establishment as they are not customer driven at all. Do not...
Read moreMy family has been going to Ashland for years. we have even organized large gatherings there. one for the gathering after my father's funeral for example. we also would go every week for trivia with a group and buy dinner and drinks. so, it is safe to say we have brought a lot of business into this establishment. Sadly, over the past few years the food and the service has gone downhill. I stopped going a while ago due to the poor service.
My mother continued to go with a group of friends every weekend for the music and dancing, but she informed me that she is has become unhappy with the service, especially from the bartender Max. he apparently has been removing the reserved table sings that the staff put up for my mother and her friends, and he puts reserved signs with no names on it, when my mother or her friends arrive, he refuses to let them sit where they have asked to be seated. Max has stated he is saving the tables for his " favorite regular customers, that spend money on drinks". while my mother may not drink, she does order food while there, so money is still being spent.
this bartender has been rude on numerous occasions to not only my mother but others in her party.
For a restaurant that's business is based on word of mouth and repeat customers, I think they may want to think about how they treat the people who have been loyal to them...
