I have been increasingly frustrated with best friends. Donāt get me wrong, I think they generally really care about the pups but a combination of inaccuracies and inefficiencies have become frustrating.
Over my last three visits, our pup has repeatedly been fed treats during his one-on-one time despite multiple warnings on his account not to feed him anything but the premeasured food that I bring. I know this because in those report card pictures I see him eating a treat.
Also on 2 visits, some of his scheduled one on one time was never documented with a report card. Those 15 minute play sessions are quite pricey and frankly I expect him to get them and I expect to get pictures and a little write up about them. It only takes a few seconds. To their credit they did refund all of my extras. Still, I wasnāt looking for a refund I was looking for a little bit of extra love and attention for my little guy.
I carefully measure out food and always bring two or three extra bags. When I go to pick him up they NEVER have the leftovers. This makes me wonder if they have even been giving him his food all along that I pre-packed. One time he came back extremely itchy making me think he was getting the house food. (He has a high food sensitivity and a limited diet has solved that.)
When I have asked for one on one time with explicit messages all over his account that he should not get food or treats, I get updates showing him opening a Food puzzle. I called and complained and it happened the very next time. Profoundly aggravating.
Their system is antiquated. I spend a bunch of time filling out a ton of details online including what one on one time he should get, his bath, what size dog he is, his food preferences and so forth. Then when I get there I have to fill out a two page document by hand with all of exactly the same information. Then they donāt even follow it. Itās profoundly inefficient and ineffective.
I think the people here are lovely and they really care about their dogs. But they have some real logistical issues with their sign in system, food management, etc. that they really need to address. I am sorry that Iāve had to lower my review to three stars but after my first couple of very positive experiences, I have had multiple challenging situationās.
Your dog will be safe and happy here. He or she will be well cared for at a basic level. But until Iām sure that they get the details better, especially with my food sensitive dog, I need to take my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a new dog owner to an 8 month old puppy and was very hesitant about leaving her in the hands of (ultimately) strangers. My husband and I toured the Cockeysville facility, asked others about their experience(s), and read reviews. After hearing and seeing positive feedback and some thought, we decided to enroll our girl in daycare. From signing up to bringing her to/picking her up from daycare, the process has been very easy and comforting. After only taking her one day a week for the past month , she (and we) love it! My husband primarily drops her off and always tells me how excited she gets when he pulls into the parking lot. We love it because she expels her energy, interacts with other dogs, and comes home happy (but exhausted)! They also have an app that allows you to purchase and access their live indoor and outdoor cameras - which also eased my mind through this. The price is affordable for a full day of daycare (even for late nights!) and they also have package options available. I found it adorable that on their first day of daycare, they upload a āreport cardā and tell you how they did - also providing a piece of mind!
Other tidbits: You purchase a breakaway collar (a one time fee) and they evaluate your dog on day one to ensure safety for your dog and others. Also, you may supply your own snack or allow you to use their own food (I personally stuck with our own food as she is so young, I didnāt want to introduce her to a new food but appreciated the option). Additionally, the weather depends if they take the dogs outside or leave them inside to roam (either way, they play and tire out). The staff have also all been a pleasure through this process and clearly can tell they enjoy the dogs!
Only downfall (and minor): I read other reviews that BFF provided pictures, updates, or report cards of their dog to let them know how they have been doing but other than the first visit, I have not received anything. Maybe it is because she only goes once a week?
Anyway, I hope I have provided a well-detailed and honest review to ease the minds of other first-timers to doggy daycare! I give the Cockeysville location 5 stars! No complaints! Thank you Best Friends Furever for welcoming our little girl with open arms and making her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeware of what you sign when you drop off your dog(s) you might not get them back. About a year ago my family and I fell on some hard times and needed someone who could take our dogs until we could get back on our feet. This place stated they would keep them for us, free of charge. Apparently the cost would mean them keeping my boys. In order for them to stay there they need to be vaccinated, which they were. The only issue, which we were not able to have done at the time was their grooming. We have/had 2 huskies and an Atkia, grooming was due but we did it normally in the middle to end of July once they blew the fur from the winter. We took them before then. My husband was told that they had to have a surrender form signed and that it was protocol to have done and that it didnt mean anything, so he did. In September when the date was approaching that we had to have them out, we were told that they could stay there for as long as needed, no problem. We went EVERY weekend to visit them except 3 weeks in January when pur trailer caught fire and we had to take care of that stuff. A month and a half later we were told we couldnt have our boys back and we were not allowed to see them and they were putting them up for adoption. They knew NOTHING about how my boys lived with us and claimed that they luved outside their whole life which is lies. They came in every night and when the weather was bad, too hot or too cold, raining etc. They did not like staying on the house all day long. They had a 40x80 kennel which they stayed in while out. I will NEVER USE them again for any dog or recommend...
