The experience overall was reasonably enjoyable until we were leaving.
My 7 year old daughter was holding the door for the group when a male staffer cut in front of us and moved aggressively towards my daughter, who recognized the aggression and jumped out of the way. I asked her if he said excuse me and she and her sisters said he did not (at least not loud enough for them to hear).
My wife and I asked to speak to the manager. His response was, "I don't have kids." and "What do you want me to do?" He did try to identify the culprit, but was ultimately unhelpful.
We explained that I don't want my daughter to think that if a man threatens her physically that it's ok and if we could identify the person, get their side of the story and maybe get him to apologize, that would be ideal. No such luck.
I don't coddle my kids and while I do see them as beautiful snowflakes, I don't expect that from the rest of the world, but when I see someone bully a child it really bothers me. It's a huge social red flag. My wife made the point to the manager that if someone intimidated his pet, he'd be upset. He conceded that point.
Also, we were customers. We had the right of way.
I am writing this long review for the audience that would be interested in this information.
As far as the meal, the service was decent and pleasant. The food was pleasant at the price point. Unfortunately, in the end, we did not feel welcomed at this establishment.
I wish I had been the one holding the door.
Please note: We spent upwards of $250 and tipped more than 20% prior to...
Read moreWe were so excited to try Beacon after Sam's left during Covid. I like to take my mom out to a nice bay-side restaurant for lunch frequently. We thought we would change-it-up and try Beacon. Our server was a sweetheart--no complaints with her warm service and I don't write reviews often...but....ugh... the food. Come on folks. Let's pick it up! The pecan feta apple salad was dreadful. It was a plate of lettuce with some pecans and limp, browned apples. I thought they might be pears, but my server assured me they were apples. I sent the browned limp soggy lemon saturated apples back to the chef. No attention or apologies from the kitchen. The dressing also was a watery lemon juice. I aked for another dressing that was suggested--but they "were out." I just returned the whole salad. My mom had chicken sandwhich. It was nothing fresh--saturated in salt brine. Ugh. Sam's, we miss you. The decor is unfinished--with tarps hanging from the ceiling that are suppose to look like sails? Nothing on the walls. Stark. I don't think this place is going to make it, despite a welcoming bar tender and a sweet waitress. Kitchen--it's up to you. Owners-- beef...
Read moreI went to Beacon outside bar for the first time tonight. I met a friend there for happy hour. My first impression was good! We had an adorable, funny bartender. A storm erupted and our cute bartender told us that her boss wanted her to come inside to stay safe, even though she would be leaving at least 15 guests sitting at the bar. We were not invited inside to ride out the storm because their inside restaurant was closed for a private room event. The outside bar clients and myself were left under the cover of the bar for 40 minutes without any service. The group got a bit restless. One customer poured himself a draft beer and planned to pay for it, if any of the staff returned. The ‘bar manager” came out about 45 mins after he removed his bar staff from service. He was rude, inhospitable, insulting and honestly embarrassing. This bar manager removed his staff from danger but left 15 customers sitting at the bar. He didn’t offer to close out our bill, nor offer us a drink to wait the storm out. We were basically held hostage through the storm. Do NOT patronize Beacon unless you want...
