My organization hired Beefalo Bob’s to supplement the menu at a crab feast with pit meats and sides and we chose their drop-off option. Overall we were mostly pleased with the results, with a few exceptions. I’ll start with some of the positives.
They give you a lot of food for your money. We placed an order for 25 guests and received enough for at least 10 more than that. We ended up having a lot leftover which we were happy to take home with us. Despite reviews I read to the contrary, they were actually very pleasant and easy to work with. We asked for a few substitutions and also ended up having to change our order at the last minute, and they were able to accommodate most of our requests.
Now we move on to some of the things that were not so good. We booked delivery for an event that started at 4:00 but the food was delivered at 3:30, so it was mostly cold by the time the guests had arrived and we began serving. Even if we had set up our warming trays it still would’ve been sitting out idly for quite some time getting dry or crusty over the heating elements. They weren’t nearly as generous with the condiments and toppings as they were with the food. We had them supply the typical condiments like ketchup, mustard, mayo, barbecue, etc. as well as the lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. We received the same amount (a small container) of each condiment, so some of the ones that are more popular for this type of open pit food like mayo and barbecue were used up quickly. In fact we received nowhere near enough barbecue for the huge tray of pulled pork. The same goes for the onion which was also gone almost immediately. The amount of cheese we received was an absolute joke. It was 3 or maybe 4 slices each of American, Swiss, and Provolone, and each slice was cut in half and arranged on a plate to try to make it look like it was more than it really was. Even if our guests used just one these little half-slices on each sandwich it still wouldn’t have been nearly enough. We did receive a large bowl of lettuce and tomato which was more than enough, as well as plenty of rolls and bread.
As for the food, we selected pit beef, pit turkey, and pulled pork for our meats. All of them were tender and delicious, with a great smoky flavor! The beef was a bit more rare (pink) than most people prefer it, but we only received a few complaints. For our sides we got macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and ocean fries, which are fresh cut fries that are supposed to be like Thrashers. The beans and macaroni and cheese were excellent. The fries, not so much. They were soggy, shriveled, and they tasted awful. Now in all fairness they did warn me going in that the fries don’t travel well and they don’t recommend them for drop-off service, but it’s hard for me to imagine any point when they would’ve tasted good. We ended up throwing the vast majority of them away, and to make matters worse they made us buy a double order of them for some reason in place of a fourth side, which makes no sense at all.
Overall we were pretty satisfied, and would probably use them again in the future. I would just recommend being very specific about what you want and how you want things done to avoid some of the...
Read moreOk guys, you all know that my reviews are honest and forthcoming and meant to help, not hurt any businesses... that being said this is a GENEROUS 2 stars. My wife and I went last night to see our buddy George play some music, play some Keno and try a new place. 1st mistake on our part - going to a BARBEQUE place and ordering Quesidillas and seafood. Our waitress 1st night on the job should not be an excuse for putting in our food 20 minutes AFTER we ordered it.. someone who's training her should make sure she's got her stuff together. When our food finally came out, my wife's wasn't prepared as described.. no onions or peppers and she had to get them separate. I tried a bite of her quesadilla, 7/10.. edible. I ordered the teryaki salmon w/ a side of mashed/gravy and green beans. It came out (cold mashed potatos, but i'm Army and I was hungry so I really didn't care) and collard-greens. I asked them to take them back which they did and brought me green beans. Now I will tell y'all I love green beans more than Trump loves spray tans and models and they were completely inedible. This part is for the owner of Beefalo Bob's - either check the expiration date on your green beans or order a different style. They were atrocious. Again, taking into account we're in a barbeque joint, I should have just gotten a brisket sandwich and hedged my bet, but my salmon .. 6/10. Lastly - the Yngling daft beer my wife ordered tasted weird. When this happens it usually means the lines haven't been cleaned in a while and make the drafts taste stale. Check your lines sir... no one should have to drink spoiled beer. Lastly, when the check came out, we were going to be charged EXTRA for the collard greens that I never ordered... they were removed and our server took the beer off as well. Going forward... might come back to watch George play again, but we'll prob order BBQ sandwiches if we decide to try again. Wait staff - 9/10: Not their fault for the kitchen snafu and they were really nice ladies. Hope this helps for future visits and again.. check your green beans - something aint'...
Read moreI am absolutely amazed at the pure disrespect and unprofessionalism of not only one of the staff but someone that calls themselves the Manager of Operations! I came in the other day and ordered a meal, I tried to return it because it was not right and this disgusting looking lady wearing dirty rags for shorts comes from the kitchen and tells me that I am wrong and that I did not order the food the way that I said I ordered it and she knows that I am wrong because she cooked the food and bagged it herself and because of that there is no way she did it wrong. I tried to explain maybe she read it wrong, heard it wrong or it was written down wrong and that I apologize that it was wrong but somewhere in the process they got it wrong and that I only wanted the food that I ordered the way that I ordered it. She got increasingly angry and disrespectful as it went on she belittled me and screamed at me so I asked to speak to a manager which seamed to only make her more angry and she started laughing at me and then told me that she was the manager of operations and that I had no choice but to deal with it, take the food or leave it but she was not fixing it and she was not refunding it and then basically told me to take my food and get out and not to come back. I promise you I will never come back and the groups that I represent will never come back we will never again use them for catering our events like we have and I will go out of my way to make sure everyone knows about this person you call a manager. All of you at Beefalo Bobs should be ashamed of yourselves. I have never in my life been so humiliated and embarrassed especially over something that was so easy to fix and would have taken her a matter of minutes to do so. You have lost more than one customer for this one and you should really screen your so called managers a little better this was not my first incident with this lady but it was the worst and will be...
