WOW! A simple search on Google Maps for “authentic pizza” brought us to this once known around the corner here in Hagerstown, MD previously as “Tony’s” BUT not any longer!! NOPE! Folks, Cafe Roma Ristorante replaced “Tony’s” on March 2, 2023 “AND” is a true hidden gem right here on this corner off Pennsylvania Avenue. As society will do by its own failures, judging a book by its cover, folks if you continue to pass by this “GEM” of a restaurant based on merely its outside let me be one of the patrons who is bold enough to share with you just what a mistake you are making passing this restaurant by. As aforementioned, we were searching for authentic pizza and well, if I had to compare it to searching for fine jewelry this is how best to describe it … a simple search for an amethyst brought us to a cave filled with diamonds!! We walked inside expecting to view a menu of merely pizza and wings which to our surprise was more than four pages of fresh pasta dishes, and more than that. It also included fresh seafood as well with baby octopus, calamari, scallops, crab, lobster, shrimp and so much more. The dessert menu was even more delightful as well. Let me just add, did we order pizza? Of course, that was our take out order!! We first had to try the seafood platter pasta and the chicken parmigiana which simply sounded scrumptious and too enticing to pass up!! Since that visit, we have ordered the pizza twice from Door Dash along with the lasagna! If you really want authentic italian food that is even as delicious cold as it is hot, this is the your place! Cafe Roma has become our favorite local ristorante!

Come support this local restaurant! We went for the first time after reviews from a few friends - we had no idea they had changed from Tony's almost 2 years ago as we're not regularly on that side of town and hadn't heart anything about it. Service was friendly, efficient, and accurate; you can tell they're doing their best to offer you a fine dining experience. Food was hot, fresh and homemade. We had Calamari appetizer, Shrimp and Scallop Fra Diavolo, Stuffed Ravioli and Creme Brulee dessert. The evening was finished off with the very kind owner coming to chat with us personally. They had a lovely place here and are doing a wonderful job to provide authentic, reasonably priced itilian cuisine in a fine dining environment. They offer regular deals and happy hour deals for food AND drinks. This place is a great addition to our town! Nothing quite like it is available and a breath of fresh air from the many chains. My ONLY complaint is I didn't much care for the Limoncello Martini Special, and that dinner didn't include a salad. I simply know to order a salad and a different drink next time! We will absolutely be back and look forward to trying many more dishes on their menu and supporting this business. I didn't take note on bathrooms, handicap accessibility, etc. So I will update this review when I make a return visit.

I can not brag enough about Café Roma! I come here atleast once a week and am always more than pleased! Luigi the owner is vary knowledgeable in his dishes as well as being incredibly hospitable to each of his guests from what I've experienced and seen. Alex who i always ask for and highly recommend is someone who will make you feel as close to being in your own home as you can. Always smiling, and it'd like he knows what you want before you ask!! The rest of the staff are amazing as well!! This is just for the service. As for the food. I cant possibly describe what you have to see and taste for yourself. I can guarentee you will love each dish. The pastas l, sauces and dishes are Freshly made each day in house. Authentic is almost an understatement! 50 out of 10 recommend! And if you think of it being just another "Tonys" boy are you missing out and mistaken!

My roommate and I visited Cafe Roma, for the first time, tonight. His coworkers highly recommended it to him; it didn’t disappoint! We were greeted and seated almost immediately. I ordered the Italian Wedding Soup, Caesar Salad, and Shrimp Scampi. The soup was exceptional. It didn’t have any of the tiny meatballs in it, which was a little weird, but I assume the “ladle” of soup I got just didn’t happen to have any in it. Regardless, I’m not complaining, because the broth was AMAZING. I would 100% order it again, and hope they add it to their menu permanently. The salad was also great. I loved their house made dressing, and the croutons were delicious. The shrimp scampi was the best I’ve EVER had. I’m not normally a fan of tomatoes, but the diced up tomatoes on/in that dish were to DIE for. The butter was also really yummy, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked, and bigger than the shrimp you’d find in most shrimp scampi dishes. They also leave just a little bit of the tail on, to retain the shrimp’s flavor. My roommate had the Crab Bisque, and the Shrimp and Scallops Alla Panna. He loved both. I’ve never seen him eat so much of a pasta dish that was such a large portion. This is also something worth pointing out; portions are large. I took home enough for another dinner, and my roommate enough for a nice lunch. They also serve really good, complimentary, house made bread. Loved it, but wish it would’ve been warmed. If I had one complaint, that would be it, but we both still thoroughly enjoyed it. Don’t forget to ask for some olive oil to dip it in! Oh, and a nice touch - they warm the butter, making it easier to spread on the bread. We will absolutely be coming back to this restaurant at least a couple times a month. We were beyond impressed with the food, service, and warm/inviting atmosphere! Thank you!

Visited this restaurant again, tonight, and was even more impressed! I got the lasagna, and my roommate got a pepper and sausage dish. Highly impressed. The service was so good that we tipped our server almost half the bill, which we rarely do at nicer restaurants, but he was more than worth it. I literally cannot recommend this place more highly! Ask for the “bread dip”, which isn’t on the menu, but they do sell, and it’s more than worth it! Same for their Burrata, which is the best I’ve ever had, by far!

We have been to this restaurant many times since I shared my initial review, and have yet to be disappointed in any way. If anything, the service has improved, which I didn’t think was possible. I’ve been to fancy restaurants in DC, NYC, and other places; the service here is as good, if not better, which never fails to shock me. That, alone, makes it worth the visit. This is coming from a fellow server, by the way. I agree with a previous reviewer that “looks can be deceiving”, and that this isn’t a “pizza joint” at ALL. This is a top notch, fine dining Italian restaurant, with authentic Italian dishes, BEYOND exceptional service, and a very intimate/romantic yet inviting ambiance. If you haven’t given this restaurant a chance, you’re only doing yourself a disservice.

If you’re like my roommate and I, and you’re looking for a genuine positive review to convince them (and yourself, secretly) where you should eat tonight, because you’re both indecisive but they want you to decide, let this be your answer. You...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Café Roma and I must say, it was a truly wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile from the staff, setting the tone for a fantastic evening ahead.

First and foremost, the food at Café Roma is simply excellent. The menu offers a wide range of options, from classic Italian dishes to unique and innovative creations. Each dish is prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail, resulting in a burst of flavors that truly delights the taste buds. The ingredients used are fresh and of the highest quality, which is evident in every bite. Whether you're a fan of pasta, pizza, or seafood, Café Roma has something to please every palate.

The service at Café Roma is equally impressive. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to assist with any inquiries or special requests. They go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and comfortable throughout their dining experience. From recommending the perfect wine pairing to promptly refilling water glasses, the level of service provided is truly exceptional.

The ambiance of Café Roma also deserves special mention. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with soft lighting and tasteful decor that creates a warm and intimate setting. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a meal with friends or loved ones, Café Roma provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience.

Overall, I cannot recommend Café Roma highly enough. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, and the overall experience is truly wonderful. Whether you're a lover of Italian cuisine or simply looking for a great restaurant to try, Café Roma is a must-visit destination. I guarantee you won't be...
