China Garden — Restaurant in Maryland

Update: In an effort to support our local restaurants during this difficult time, today it was time to revisit China Garden. Order was placed mid-afternoon on a Friday and quickly delivered. Our opinion of the egg rolls hasn't changed - very small for the price - but nicely cooked. The Roast Pork Egg Foo Young was very good, not greasy at all. The Shrimp with Onions and Curry was good, nicely seasoned with water chestnuts, baby corn slices, carrots and way too many green peppers, but still good. Don't forget to keep supporting your local restaurants and carry-outs! (Adding another star to previous rating)

This place is very hit or miss. I have ordered from them previously when I was near the then-open Mars Store. I do not recommend the spring rolls. The price is $3+ for two but they are very small (about three small bites) and not worth the cost. The Beef Lo Mein had a very strong sesame oil smell but, fortunately, there was no strong taste. The Roast Pork Egg Foo Young was swimming in an oily pool. The accompanying "gravy" had the consistency of water. There are other Nottingham area Chinese food restaurants. Yo, listen up, fam! I had to holla at y'all 'bout this joint 'cause I just made a move based on them previous reviews. Everybody was trippin', complainin' 'bout this and that – bad service, weak vibes, and some food quality drama. But I wasn't sweatin' it, you feel me? I was just lookin' for somethin' that wouldn't break the bank, and I knew what I was after. So, I copped that house fried rice and them eggrolls, even though folks be talkin' mad smack 'bout 'em.

But let me tell you, they were straight-up fire! Ain't no grease messin' with my vibe, and sure, them eggrolls might be on the smaller side, but they were on point. That rice, though, it was off the chain – piping hot and they hooked me up with a fat portion. It was budget-friendly, delicious as heck, and exactly what I was lookin' for. My wife and i were passing through the area and in the mood for Chinese. I picked this place, having mistaken it for one with higher reviews. However, our experience was pretty good. I got the general tso, which was, for the first time in my experience, all white meat chicken chunks and lightly breaded. The broccoli was well cooked and enjoyable. My wife ordered a lo mein, said it was well cooked, and enjoyed all the vegetables in it. We got the California roll and shrimp toast for appetizers; the sushi was great but the shrimp toast was super greasy (like dripping). Portions were large and worth the price. Their customer service could be improved on. I had to track down our server to pay after holding the check for 10 minutes. And the dining area could be cleaned more thoroughly and updated.
