I attend this location frequently but this is my first time trying it for restaurant week.
Here are my thoughts: The customer service from bartender Jason was phenomenal. He was our waiter while we sat at the booth in the bar area. He was fast, kind, extremely efficient, prepared, and attentive. I have no complaints. 5/5 for customer service.
My son’s ribs were filling and large but a bit pricey. The broccoli was a little mushy but definitely seasoned. The fries had a good crunch but was only warm (not hot). Overall his meal was about 3.8/5
I ordered the fried pickles, stuff shrimp with broccoli, and bread pudding. I used to love their fried pickles but now I don’t. They changed the recipe and now serve them like a thin basket of fries. Previously, they were thick (like a spear) and served in a tall basket that stood up. The new formula and presentation used extremely thin, nearly shredded pickles. Again, the broccoli was mushy but seasoned. The stuffed shrimp was delicious but the portion was so small. It didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth for the restaurant deal. The bread pudding was really tasty but I wish I had ice cream to add to it. Anyway, I would rate that full meal as a 3.3/5 for portion and mushy veggies.
My spouse’s meal was the boom boom shrimp, pork chops with mash potatoes & coleslaw, and black bottom cheesecake. The boom boom shrimp was very good but we did ask for ranch dipping sauce on the side. The pork chops were amazingly juicy. They came with an apple sauce for dipping but I didn’t like the flavor combination. The coleslaw was decent. The black bottom cake was just ok. I’m glad it came with my meal because otherwise, I wouldn’t have ordered that dessert. Overall, this meal was a 4.2/5 strictly for the mash and porkchop.
Wings were a to go order for someone else. They said the wings were good but wish they had a little more ranch...
Read moreWe are frequent flyers at this restaurant. The staff here is bar none, the most excellent you will ever encounter. They are like family to us. Accomodating and sincere, we share our life's happenings with them and they with us. We absolutely love Jason and Tony. We actually chose our most recent night out to see Jason, one of the servers who manages the bar and bar dining. They have many phenomenal dishes. Top picks are the sour beef, their scrumptious fajitas, quesadillas and burgers. The crab imperial is awesome but if you order it with rockfish (stuffed rockfish) you may be dissapointed. The fish didn't have much flavor at all. I couldn't tell I was eating rockfish. On another occasion we had the restaurant week's Steak Oscar. The boom boom shrimp appetizer recommended by our server that came with the dinner was delicious. The steak was great but the crab topping was just crab meat scattered on the top of the steak with no flavor. The chocolate mousse cake was delicious. They also have a side of zucchini medley that you shouldn't miss if ordering a dinner entree. We went out on a limb to try the more elaborate entrees but will stick to other tried and true restaurants specializing in seafood when ordering fish or other entrees like the Steak Oscar. With all that being said, Silver Spring Mining will always remain our GO TO restaurant. Other selections on the menu are great! I just won't be ordering again outside of my wheelhouse. Ill stick to what I know is good and...
Read moreSorry to say this but our meal was terrible. I grew up in Perry Hall and my family went to Silver Spring all the time and the food was delicious and the prices were fair. Today we ordered carry out and found out that the price of Sour Beef and Dumplings had gone from $15.95 a few years ago to $22.95 (ridiculous increase) We ordered the large size so we thought for the price we would get alot. We had two dumplings and three medium pieces of beef. It was sickening sweet, not sour, and a very small container of cold slaw. I also ordered cream of crab soup, which I found was watery with very little crab meat. ( send your chef to DeNiro's . Their cream of crab. is thick and loaded with crab meat and costs less.) The ridiculous cost for two dumplings and three pieces of meat was an insult. Needless to say, we live just about two miles away but will not be eating at your restaurant again. Neither will my next door neighbors, daughter and family, and son and family. Seems like it went all downhill when you remodeled. Guess you have to pay for it somehow. I will be sure and let all my friends in Perry Hall and Kingsville know about it. Sorry, I have never had to write a letter like this for any place...
