For my husband's 50th birthday I decided to try Creative Cakes. I was hoping they'd live up to their name because when it comes to creativity, I have none. Unfortunately--they did not. Sigh. When I called, I told the man on the phone I'd like the smallest cake they have for our small party, with happy bday to my husband and a big 50 on it and that I wanted it decorated festive somehow, that I'm not picky, and what did he, the expert, recommend? Surely they have decorated cakes for 50th birthday parties before. Well, he was very put out that I had no ideas in my head. He seemed utterly lost and annoyed. He finally ended up suggesting a Christmas theme, which I happily went with, since he came up with SOMEthing. Well I went to pick up my cake a week later and it wasn't very festive looking and what it did look like though was a Christmas cake for a 4 yr old, notwithstanding the big Happy 50th Birthday on it. There were cute little gingerbread men and snowmen (actually, one each) on it, etc. Which again, would be cute for a 4 yr old. I let the woman know when I was picking it up it looked a little er....young for my husband. (and did I mention not very festive? kind of blah looking) Well the woman did not give a rip. She made zero offerings to me whatsoever to make it more into a cake that I would like to give to my husband for his 50th birthday celebration. What customer service! Taking the hint and feeling completely exasperated, I finally just said OK, I'll go ahead and just pay. Of course, they had already charged my credit card! Unreal. And it wasn't even a layered cake, just a big slab of plain old chocolate cake with some frosting on it, and of course, the (couple of) Christmas decorations for a 4 yr old. And it wasn't even that good, honestly. Giant offers a thicker and more tastier layer of frosting. And oh yea, you should've seen the price. Which I'm more than happy to pay for for a delicious Gifford's cake. I certainly will not be going back to this place. And you, are...
Read moreMy family has been ordering cakes from here for 20+ years and it has always been our go to spot for all celebrations. I ordered a cake for my son's first birthday and I was so disappointed. They had to squeeze my son's name on the cake, you could barely read the last three letters. When I called to give feedback, they were extremely rude and told me it was my fault for not telling them when picking up. I was shocked, first of all they should have some quality control and if they really thought they could fix it, they should have offered for me to bring it back to fix it. Second, I wish they had given me feedback on the photo I sent for inspiration and recommended a different style icing- I used a professional to tell me what would look good or not. Third, when I first called for a quote someone told me $125, then I called two weeks later to say I wanted the cake and another woman said she didn't see the quote written anywhere and just said it's $150...there was no itemized receipt...not professional. Just felt like it was a bad experience, VERY expensive and bad...
Read moreIf youâre able to submit any design for a cake, you should be able to go home with a box that closes so you can transport it to your destination. Itâs unacceptable to do the bare minimum for a design submission and then try to send a customer home without a properly closing box. I had to go back in and ask for an alternative and plastic and tape was put around the opening. I was looking forward to this cake because I was gifted a birthday cake made by this shop earlier this year and I loved it. But for a place that offers ZERO refunds and doesnât remind their customers of their orders for pickup, this business should do a little more to justify the pricing. While the person who ordered my birthday cake was not satisfied with their order, I brushed it aside and saw no reason not to appreciate my cake I also enjoyed the taste of. However, I should have heeded their warning. Your product has to go above and beyond to justify mediocre service. Iâm dissatisfied from this experience and for having to leave this harsh...
