Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTravels Driving through Western Maryland and found this local owned spot. It's a small place on a hill with of view of the lake from the front patio supposedly, there was heavy fog tonight so we couldn't tell. Started with th calamari. If you check out our reviews we eat a lot of calamari as it's one of our favorite appetizers so when I tell you this had to be some if the best we've ever had it's saying a lot. It was so tender it just disappeared in your mouth. The breading was light but had just enough seasoning that it was flavorful but didn't overwhelm the calamari itself. It comes with a warm Asian slaw and a spicy Thai ginger sauce. We had the Thai sauce on the side along with tarter sauce and the two worked off each other very well. I don't like warm coleslaw but Diane enjoyed it. Diane then had the maple bourbon glazed salmon with broccoli. This was good but was just lacking in seasoning to make it better than just ok. Not bad but after the calamari we maybe had to high of expectations. I had the handmade crabcake sandwich. No fillers or peppers just good crab meat and very little breading to keep it together. This I thoroughly enjoyed. Came with shoestring fries and a mayo-mustard mix that was a good compliment to the sandwich. Overall we would definitely come back and try it again....
Read moreWow. The wait to get your food out can be a bit long, but only because this place is deservedly slammed at dinnertime. I usually don't order typical fried appetizers, because since most restaurants use the same frozen premade ones from Aramark, they all taste the same. I ordered them here because this seemed like the kind of place to make them from scratch, and I was right: best hushpuppies I've ever had. The ratio of crab to binder/filler in the crab cakes is so high you can't even see any filler, what magic holds them together? As for the crab itself, how is it this fresh so far from the Bay? I'm from Eastern Virginia around the Potomac Delta, and the crab measures up to anything back home.
For dessert, they make ice cream sandwiches from scratch! Even the ice cream I'm pretty sure, since the chocolate-covered orange had actual orange pieces in it. I've never seen that anywhere before, and don't think I will again, at least not for a while. It really needs to be on the menu IMO. A great seafood place in the mountains is impressive, even if it is Maryland, but the ice cream sandwiches are something you probably can't...
Read moreHonestly this restaurant reminded me of something that needed to be on the show "Bar Rescue" only because the owner was obviously under the influence. But all honesty I would go back, despite the owner who by the way was super nice and accommodating, the food hands down the best food I had in a long time. Everything was absolutely delicious. Who ever was back in the kitchen( keep them) because that Chef/cook is your saving grace. The owner was so under the influence that he forgot to ring up half the stuff we ordered, I didn't realize it until I looked at the receipt, it's off season and you can't be loosing out on money , from a business owner to a business owner, you have to do better. Drink after your hard days work. It took everything for me to convince my family to stay and eat, for some reason I knew knew in my heart that the food was about to be delicious. I've spent years working in restaurants (small town) and Chef/Owner was always under the influence and what can I say the food was...
