I don’t know who I was before I stood in that line. I don’t even know what year it was when I got there. All I know is that six hours later, the sun had set, I had bonded with strangers, questioned the limits of human patience, and ascended to a higher plane of existence — all for two scoops of the most mind-bending, soul-kissing, universe-altering ice cream I have ever tasted.
Let’s talk about that mint chocolate chip. This wasn’t your average, run-of-the-freezer mint. No, no. This was arctic glacier breeze meets fresh mint sprigs hand-plucked by forest nymphs. It was smooth, cold, and electric — the kind of mint that whispers in your ear and says, “You’re exactly where you’re meant to be.” And the chocolate chips? More like chocolate shards from some ancient cacao temple. Perfectly bitter, perfectly sweet, perfectly crunchy magic.
Then came the peanut butter chocolate — or as I now call it, “The Reason I Believe in Love Again.” It wasn’t just peanut butter. It was roasted, velvety, golden peanut butter swirled into a deep, dark chocolate so rich it probably owns real estate in the Hamptons. Each bite was like being hugged by your childhood and simultaneously dunked in a pool of euphoria. I saw someone cry next to me after their first spoonful. I understood why. I cried too.
Yes, it was a 6-hour wait. But time doesn’t apply when you’re about to taste divine dairy perfection. I’d wait 12. Heck, I’d bring a tent and camp out like it’s the Ice...
Read moreMy family goes to the Lakeside creamery at least four times every summer. The ice cream there is just so delicious, and the atmosphere is great. There is always a line because of how delicious the ice cream is, but the line moves quite fast.
Parking: The Lakeside Creamery has two options for parking: cars or boats. If you want to drive there in your car, there are always at least 2-6 open parking spaces. If you want to stop there in the middle of your boat trip, there is a rather large dock with about 12 dock slips. However, 10 of those are only for boats under about 23 feet. If you have a large boat, I would recommend parking on the edge farthest out to the lake. if there are no open spots, you should only need to wait about five minutes for a boat to pull out.
Ice Cream Flavors: There are always about 24 flavors at a time. this means that you will definitely have something you like. Also, the flavors switch out about once every two weeks, only keeping the most commonly flavors. However, they do eventually cycle back to all past flavors. The ice cream is paid for by the ounce and comes with a free homemade waffle cone!
Other options: If you don't want a scoop, you can get a sundae, a...
Read moreSo this place has the absolute best ice cream on the lake. The reason I’m only giving 3 stars is because whoever manages the store doesn’t seem to know how to get the line moving faster.
Every time we go, the line moves like molasses.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they MEASURE the ice cream, and charge by weight. Why not just choose a predetermined size for small, regular and large, and then keep the line moving? This extra step, though seemingly inconsequential, adds significant amount of time to the process when multiplied by the number of customers that come through.
They also like to write down everyone’s order FIRST, before beginning. Why not just start the order, and keep track as you go along? People make changes mid-order ALL THE TIME. Taking the entire party’s order up front should only make things take longer.
They STOP to ask if the amount looks good. 99% of the time, it’s fine. If there is obviously a problem, the customer will speak up.
This business would have SOOOOO much more business if they could keep the line moving. I swear I’ve seen people look inside and just walk away when they see how long the line is, and how...
