The food at faccis isn’t bad, which is almost a shame because after repeated service issues - including a big one today - I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
I’ve been to faccis several times. Decent Neapolitan style pizza, respectable pasta dishes (I like the amatriciana especially). So far so good. The host and waitstaff are hit and miss and sometimes seem to be annoyed by the presence of customers, especially customer with kids (yes, well behaved kids).
What prompted this review was an issue with the wine. In the past, I’ve ordered a bottle of the featured wine selection at faccis and only noticed after paying the check that I was charged twice the advertised price - it wasn’t marked down like it should have been. Oh well, shame on me for not checking earlier, right? So this time, I again ordered a featured wine selection but checked before paying the check. Once again, I was charged substantially more than the advertising price. Seems to be a pattern. I told our waiter that they charged the wrong price and to please double check. The waiter took our bill to go check with the manager. Again, so far so good…
The waiter comes back and explains that we were given the wrong bottle - same maker, same year (I think), just a couple bucks less expensive than the regular price for the featured selection but substantially MORE expensive than the advertised price. The waiter further explained that since we were given the wrong bottle, we had to pay full price for the slightly cheaper bottle we were mistakenly given. Waiter then explained that if we really really didn’t want to pay full price that it would come out of their pay, and it would be super appreciated if we just paid full price.
Ultimately we paid full price and left feeling like suckers. I’ve worked in the restaurant business - you don’t do this kind of nonsense to customers. I guess I don’t know if the waiter was making things up or if the manager is actually such an idiot that he’d rather drive off customers for good than treat his staff fairly and lose a few bucks on the restaurant’s mistake - a totally normal and expected cost of business. Either way, that’s a terrible policy and a great way to drive off customers.
I’m not going back and can’t recommend the...
Read moreThis is the 2nd time that I have been here because my co-workers love their mussels, which they do not sell anymore. Though their signage says that they open at 11am, when arrived around 3pm, I had to approach the staff who were gathered at the bar prepping, for assistance. A man gave me some menus and directed me outside where I explained that I would like to wait for my colleagues. However, no one was sent to wait on me. Therefore, once again, I had to go to the staff gathered at the bar and ask "to whom do I give my order?" The two men and woman looked at one another in bewilderment, shrugged their shoulders, and said I guess her. I gave her my order and then sat down again, still waiting for my colleagues. As they arrived, one-by-one, a white couple entered the outdoor area, and the same man who had given me menus who I assume was the owner because he was wearing Dolce and Gabana tennis shoes, immediately went to their table to offer them service. The young lady from the bar area came with my drink. I asked if they could turn the fire pit on. The young lady said that she would ask, but I never got a response, and it was never turned on. When my colleagues arrived, they too were ready to order. By this time, a different young lady was sent out to serve us. She did so attentively in the beginning, but once we asked for our bills, she never came back. We sat an additional 20 minutes at least, waiting for someone to pick up oir checks and give my colleague change. The Dolce and Gabana shoes guy came over, looking very annoyed, as he cleared our remaining dishes and was asked to get us change (which my colleague used for his tip). By this time, people were starting to flow in. When I arrived, there was only one other customer drinking at the bar. This is an Italian restaurant that is located in a shopping center, with other restaurants and stores. The indoor and outdoor dining areas are beautiful. Everyone was satisfied with their food. Their drinks were not strong, compared to other places. They charge a 20% gratuity for groups over six. They also only split the...
Read moreNever got to try the food or restaurant. Supposedly there was some unseen dress code that was not visibly posted. Regardless of the dress code it would have been easy enough to go change in our hotel across the street. However we received the coldest reception and we are African American and we were in the area for a wedding. We visited several restaurants and locations in the same food area and all other locations made us feel welcome and valued. I would never frequent this location again. I wasn't the person in our party that was refused service because of some dress code but I felt the coldness and prejudgement. There was no offer of we would be happy to serve you or pointing to some sign showing some dress code. Maybe there was a dress code but it was mid day not night time the restaurant wad not full just a bad over all vibe. Went to the Mexican restaurant a few doors down and were sat down immediately made to feel welcome and treated like humans. I am not from the east coast but it's 2024 and to have someone I love made to feel like trash is very disappointing. I would recommend people going to other restaurants in this outdoor strip mall area. I couldn't believe there is a dress code in a strip mall location and no other restaurants in the same strip mall have any dress code. We went to 6 other establishments the same weekend and not one made us feel unwelcomed or like we were trash. I hope no one else is made to feel like trash going to this establishment. If you have a dress code please have it visibly posted before someone enters the door 🚪 not have someone look at you like you are trash and refuse service. I understand a dress code but this wasn't some high end location where you would even expect any dress code and the person in question was wearing a basketball jersey...
