My family placed two orders, one May 8, 2018 and the other May 22, 2018. These were to be picked up June 2, 2018 at 11:45. Both orders coming to a total of over $150.
We arrived at 11:50 to pick up our orders. They had a standard Saturday lunch rush going. Nothing unusual. I stood in line to pay for a few pounds of side dishes.
While I was standing in line I observed a young man working the meat slicer next to the grill outside. He was sweating profusely. His sweat was steadily rolling off of his face like a slow running faucet. I could see the sweat running off his face landing on the grinder and the pile of meats underneath. He also was continuously wiping his face with his t shirt whilst pulling scraps of meat off to eat as he changed chunks of meat.
He was wearing gloves, but never stopped to change them between the eating and sweat wiping. I approached this young man and asked him his name. Denied. 'Well do you mind stepping away and cleaning yourself up? You're sweating all over the food and station.' Employee: Na How about not eating in front of the customers at the food station? Employee: Na He then laughed at me and gave me thumbs up.
He was very rude and dismissive. I was pretty shocked, but should I have been considering his food safety and hygiene practice?
I paid for the sides and asked for a manager or owner. The girl at the counter was equally as helpful. She mumbled something and pointed at the wall. Asking her to repeat herself she said that, "No one is here".
So I proceeded to wait until 12:30, about half an hour, for my order we made weeks ago. No apology or mention of the wait or disgusting employee.
Thumbs up to Fast Eddies. Won't be trying the food since I don't know if I got a sweat filled tray or not. I'll let my family make their own choice. What a...
Read moreWorst first impression by any food establishment ever. I called expecting to be able to place a pickup order for 7 people. I was stopped and told that they don't take orders over the phone, even though their online order system was down. The only way to order was to come in person. This shortsighted policy meant that we would be eating 30-45 minutes later than we wanted to. But still we were hungry so we drove the 12 minutes and decided to overlook the inconvenience.
It got worse. When we arrived and began ordering, they told us they were out of BBQ pork, Italian sausage, and French fries... which was basically what 90% of the order was going to be. If they took orders via the phone, we would have figured it out 30 min earlier all without having to drive in and waste our time. We agreed to substitute other sandwiches and sides based on their very limited availability. Frankly, I knew then I should have ordered elsewhere, but we were trying to make the best of the situation.
To add insult to injury, we were very disappointed with most of the food. The BBQ beef sandwiches were a total mess. Sandwiches fell apart like a sloppy joe, and the meat seemed like it was stewed rather than smoked. The pit turkey and pit ham sandwiches were basically cheap lunch meat slices with smoke flavor added. And the cole slaw was obviously mass produced, not made by them. The texture of it was very odd. Instead of being crunchy, it was mushy like sauerkraut.
Their fried items were the only highlight of the meal. Sweet potato fries and fried pickles were enjoyable. But I would never recommend this place to anyone. Go anywhere...
Read moreGive them a try. Great welcoming staff. Awesome location. Plenty of parking. Decided to finally try Fast Eddie's after hearing rave reviews. Service was fast however my sandwich was made mid-well when I ordered mid-rare. The team quickly made me another sandwich and coached the meat slicer guy on what a medium rare sandwich should look like. Took one bite from my sandwich and all of the meat pulled out of the bun, perhaps it could have been sliced thinner. I'm my opinion the bun they use does not hold up to a mid-rare beef, the bread was very crumbly. Beef had no seasoning, no char, no smoke, no flavor. Nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix before cooking or a finishing salt. I know alot of places are very cautious of salt usage but, beef needs it to enhance the flavor. Perhaps, I caught them on a bad day. This was just my experience! Maybe I expected to much for a $10.00 sandwich, decent portion of beef id say 6 ounces maybe a touch more. Keep doing your thing guys you seam to have a steady following.
In addition the iced Tea was very weak tasted like it was watered down to much! Happy cooking keep them pits hot...
