Two stars based on the concept that there is no such thing as bad pizza. Sadly, after a lifetime of being a Ledo patron, and having been a customer at Edgewater since it opened, it is time to move on. We have noticed a general decline in the quality and consistency over the years, and now regard an order for pizza here as a roll of the dice, but continue to play because, when its good, it’s so good. Last night: snake eyes. We ordered two pizzas- a small with spinach, tomato and black olives, well done and medium cheese, well done. The small pizza offered , literally, three shreds of spinach, to the point where we went back to the menu to try to figure out how much we had paid, per strand. It was so skimpy, portion wise, that we just laughed. I did not think to take a picture, but I wish I had, because there is no exaggeration. Additionally, this pizza, instead of being well-done, was visibly under-cooked to the point of being gummy. I put the untouched portion into our oven to try to get it cooked through, but we could not recover from having tasted the underdone dough. The complete lack of any care taken in the prep and cooking of this pizza is just so disappointing. The medium pizza was cooked to order, but the crust was uncharacteristically thin, the sauce was hard to decipher, and it all just tasted off. We have enjoyed Ledo pizza over the many years, because of the thin crust and unique taste, but given the nearly random experience of getting a good pizza here anymore, this experience is just a killer. One of the greatest pleasures of life is cold pizza for breakfast, but the substantial remnants of these pizzas- almost 25$ worth, got tossed. This pizza, from a place that has been my go-to for the past 17-ish years, was just awful. I wrestled with whether or not to leave this review. I try to not leave negative reviews on-line, and am especially reluctant during the pandemic, but when I went to the contact info at the website so I could let the management know what we experienced, I was directed to “contact’ the specific establishment directly, which I had just tried to do, but could not. It’s like they don’t actually want feedback, and that also saddens me because it forces us into the Google forum, instead of having a personal chat. I wonder if others are having this kind of experience, and are just too hungry or exasperated to leave a review. Maybe Ledo’s needs some secret shoppers. If you order from Ledo in Edgewater, good luck. I seriously hope you catch them on a good day, and that your pizza is delicious. Good pizza is not and should not be,...
Read more(this was a pickup order) My husband ordered the meatball sub, generous portion, and a pizza for us to share. Those items were great. I ordered the hot grilled chicken salad with provolone cheese. To my surprise there were only three chicken strips covered in cheese. It was honestly just a huge container of lettuce for $7.99. When ordering I asked to have iceberg lettuce instead of mixed greens, the employee taking the order said I don't think so but I'll have to check. He put the phone down, not on hold, so I could hear other employees talking in the seperate to go area, it was just constant sweating! Finally after about 10 minutes I was told yes they could substitute. I could have gone to the grocery store, gotten a head of lettuce for $1.49 and a bag of pre-grilled chicken strips for $3.99. I would have had probably 4 meals that way. Instead, I ate the very little chicken there was with some of the lettuce. I had so much left over that I made two salads the following day.
I'll just mention the one other instance, as this is the only other time I've gotten to go food from there. I ordered the Italian meat and cheese salad. Upon returning home sitting down to eat, I opened the container and it was just lettuce. Obviously I had to call ledo's back and explain my situation. They offered to make a new one. As this was paid in cash, I couldn't get a refund. My only choices were drive 15min there and back while my husband's food got cold or I was offered a credit to be used for a future purchase. They would not give me a refund in cash. I chose neither option and microwaved some leftovers.
The lesson here is to ALWAYS check your order before leaving the parking lot. Make sure everything ordered is given to you, open all containers to make sure it's what you ordered. It will save you your time and money. This is a rule I follow all the time. I didn't ever do this back then about two years ago. I did check the order before we left this past time, everything was included, and I could see the chicken and correct lettuce through the clear container. I guess now I'm going to have a new rule, actually open up the containers even if you can see...
Read moreI walked in to order the other night. All I ordered was calamari and medium pizza, half pepperoni and bacon, the other half veggie.... in person.
Doesn't seem that hard. The guy called my name and handed me the calamari. I told him thank you and he looked at me with a blank stare. I stared back and asked about the pizza. He said, what pizza? I told him I ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni and bacon and the other half veggie. He asked if I had paid already. I told him yes.
He looked around confused. walked in the back cut up the pizza and came back out. Showed me the pizza and asked how it looked.
Wrong! I replied. The bacon is on the wrong side of the pizza.
I consider bacon a vegetable, but I wanted it with the pepperoni. He said "oh no!" Closed the box and looked at me. At this point I am pretty angry and should have asked for my money back, but instead asked for a side of ledo sauce. He brought it out and asked if I wanted a coupon for a pizza.
Sure if thats all you can do. He walked away and after a few minutes the lady that took my order pulled out a coupon for a small pizza and handed it to me.
They didnt offer to remake the pizza, didnt offer a refund for messing it up. If we had been a vegetarian or vegan, how would that have played out?
Not sure what was going on, but their attention to detail was lacking. I would have rather had a refund because the medium cost me $16 and a small pizza would have only costed about $6.
We will not be getting pizza...
