My Wife brought me here for dinner and the place was short staffed and one gentleman working during the dinner rush. The restaurant was pretty full but we grabbed a seat. Eventhough short staffed, the gebtleman was very quick to take order and serve (a second gentleman got there to lend a hand shortly after we arrived). We wanted (i wanted to) try the House Special Roast Duck, which looked amazing on the picture online (i should mention at this point I am not a fan of Duck meat). I originally thought the restaurant did not serve alcoholic beverages but was pleased to see that they actually do serve. I got the Beer Lao Dark(they ran out of the Vietnamese Beer) and it was really good. My Wife went with Chardonnay. We ordered Shrimp Skewer, Lotus Root Salad and Hot & Sour Soup. Every single dishes were above average and knocked other local asian restaurants out of the park. Im talking about New York City style taste (if you went around all the boroughs in New York City, you would know what I'm on about). So the Shrimp Skewer was really good and flavourful. The Lotus Root Salad was so so so good. The Hot and Sour Soup is more like Sweet and Sour, however, the flavour of the chicken broth is out of this world and yes there is pineapple in the soup (I don't like pineapple on food unless its a dessert), but we didnt mind in this case because the soup was oh so delicious! There were Okra in the soup also which was delightfully odd but in the best way possible. Now onto the House Special Roast Duck, it tasted even better than it looked and we absolutly loved it. My Wife likes Duck but not the general Chinese Ducks. This Duck had above and beyond flevour and crispy just the way it should be. This is the BEST Asian/Vietnamese restaurant not just in Annapolis, but in...
Read moreOn Mayo rd in Edgewater in a small strip mall. All employees are ethnic Vietnamese. Good service and reasonable to good prices. Kinda dimly lit and not the cleanest place, but the food is delicious.
Summer rolls (goi cuon, item 13) were very large, very good, coming with a peanut sauce and chopped peanuts, a bit of lettuce and a couple carrot slices. $4.99
Four Flavors appetizers (bon mon an choi)(see photo) had two skewers each of beef and chicken, two shrimp, and one fried spring roll, and two different sauces (vinegar, and a sweet & spicy). All delicious! $12.99
Grilled beef over rice (com bo nuong) (see photo #2) tasted like Japanese grilled yakiniku or Korean kalbi. Cooked just right, tender, and with a dark sauce with sesame seeds on top. All this on top of a bed of white steamed rice, with shaved carrots and 4 cucumber slicea on the side. Enough to feed two people, and likewise delicious. $12.40
Jasmine hot tea (tra nong). The teapot is easily enough for 4 people. One teabag inside, would have been better with two teabags, but still tasty. Only $2.00 !!
With tax, the bill was $34.42. We left stuffed and satisfied. We will definitely be going back.
Saigon Palace has a large menu with mostly Vietnamese food, but also some Thia, Chinese, and even a couple Japanese dishes...enough to satisfy any palate. You won't be...
Read moreI have to update my review to be totally honest. on 2nd visit the steak pho was still excellent, nice spice level. Drinks good too and very friendly service. However, 2nd visit was a disaster. They forgot to make the pad thai for one of our group and brought out all our pho orders without the last person's dinner. So one of our party waited while we all ate, and when they delivered the pad thai the chicken was half cooked. No joke, I've never seen this in a restaurant before in my life, the chicken was actually completely raw in the middle. It was obvious they rushed the forgotten order way too fast. Of course she didn't eat any and sent it back immediately. I'm pretty forgiving and thought, ok, they forgot the food and rushed it and someone totally goofed. Let's see what happens. But then they didn't come back to the table for 5 minutes to address what went wrong and find out what we wanted to do (replacement of same order? something else? nothing at all?). We just sat there wondering, so now what? In the end they remade the pad thai for free, gave 10% discount on entire remaining check and were apologetic and nice, but unfortunately I'm probably not going back. Sad because the pho was delicious. Recommendation: If you go, I'd stick...
