My mind is COMPLETELY blown! I have never in my life experienced racism first hand! I came out to Hagerstown, MD with my sister to support and celebrate my good friend's College graduation. Around 5:00, we decided to all head over to Schula's Grill and Crab House for a nice celebration dinner only to be blatantly treated poorly. We had an issue with our server and was told that the manager was too "backed up" with orders to come and speak to us. When we decided to cancel our order, the manager then decided to come and address our concerns. We sat and had various conversations and before we knew it, we had been waiting for our entrées for almost an hour and a half! We asked our waitress how much longer would our dishes take and was told we were right after the next ticket. No problem; until we saw 3 tables who had come in after us, receive their full meals. We all decided then, that we were ready to pay for our appetizers and drinks and go to a different location. The manager came out again to see why we were canceling our order as our waitress comes out right behind her with our meals. I explained to the manager that there were tables who came in after us with similar meals and were served before us. Said manager chose to get too close for comfort in my face and tell me that our order took longer because of what we ordered. When the word lawyer was presented to her, she stormed away and told the waitress not to charge our bill and we walked out. I am so glad that I didn't come out of character like I was expected to do and I will be more aware of my surroundings before I decide to dine in at any restaurant. It's a shame, but very necessary. Judging from previous low-scored reviews, it's apparent that management makes excuses for poor behavior. I hope this helps someone in deciding whether to dine there for the first time. Coming from the New Jersey area, I will never set foot in that place ever again. It's a shame because the food on everyone else's plate looked really good but I will not tolerate disrespect nor will...
Read moreWow, not sure what has happened to this place but if fell far short of previous visits this time. We have eaten here many times pre-covid, first time since covid.
The place was just about empty at lunch time on Wednesday which seemed odd. But, maybe I can guess why now. Ordered the "cream of crab soup" which was overpowered by old bay (it was even orange-red in appearance) and lacked very much actual crab meat. Way too spicy and far from the traditional cream of crab one might expect.
Next, ordered the "shrimp and bacon club" which turned out to be no club at all, just a basic sandwich, 2 slices of dry toasted bread, not even mayo or aioli or anything at all, just dry bread, a few meager shrimp (6, I think) 2 slices of cold bacon and lettuce and 1 slice of tomato. It was horrible!
How can you call this a club sandwich?? (A club sandwich is a layered sandwich of bread, sliced cooked poultry, ham or fried bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. It is often cut into quarters or halves and held together by cocktail sticks.) Big miss on this one!
Served with onion rings that were so burnt that they were inedible. Should have sent the whole deal back. Not sure why I did not.
Wife got the fish tacos with sweet potato fries. She was pleased with her meal overall
Finally, the service was terrible, had to ask 3 times for refills on drinks, could not find the server to get a bill and was put off by the whole customer service thing.
Not sure what to think or if we will make a trip back. Just a huge waste on money this time and not sure why. has it...
Read moreIm writing you back in regards to the all you can eat issues from Saturday. I will not spend a dime at your location due to the lack of training that your employees have and your poor customer service. I am very shocked of the overall service that you as a business owner accepted. We traveled 1 hour to your location and called 3 times prior to us arriving about the "all you can eat crabs" and NOT ONCE did your employees mention that it was on specific days. I called numerous locations and everyone other then your establishment say what days the all you can eat is on. Then when we sit down and get ready to order we find out that all you can eat is the following day so i ask to speak with a manager and when speaking with you (the owner) all you can do is give me an apology. I work in service and hospitality and you never even offered a discount or a free meal due to your employees lack of communication. We traveled 1 hour to try your food and had a 1 year old child that was expecting dinner. Instead you let 4 adults and 1 child leave very unhappy. Your overall service was very poor. We traveled 30 more minutes out of our way and had GREAT service, was treated much better and will be definitely be returning there. I hope that you can train your employees to give accurate information and you become more customer service savy. Just remember not everyone is looking in the paper or searching your website for accurate information. If you call the establishment they should be giving the most accurate...
