Finally tried this place after a friend of ours kept posting it on Facebook. 60 miles away but we were not disappointed. We got there about 35 min earlier than our reservation time because of unpredictable beltway traffic coming from NoVA. We were happy to see they had Happy Hour on Sunday in the bar so had a couple of drinks and fried oysters and their crab "tart" (basically a flatbread). Fried oysters were delicious!!! Hot, crispy, great fresh oyster flavor. The flatbread was surprisingly good (I wouldn't have ordered it based on the description but my husband wanted it and it was on the Happy Hour menu). There was plenty of lump crab meat that didn't taste fishy at all. For dinner, we had crab gazpacho and cream of crab soup. Both very good. Gazpacho was just a tad sweeter than I'm normally used to but still enjoyed it. Cream of crab soup was rich and delicious. They give you a small bottle of sherry to pour onto the soup (as much or as little as you like). Husband said bread was good. I love fried green tomatoes so we ordered that. That was the only real disappointment of the afternoon. It was really oily and soggy. Not crispy and not a lot of the garlic aioli. We didn't finish it even though I typically LOVE fried green tomatoes. We were getting kind of full at this point so we decided to split the wedge salad and added the fried oysters as a topping option because it was so good. The waitress offered to have the order split for us which was definitely nice and we didn't even ask for it. She was attentive, prompt but not intrusive. GREAT service in the bar and out on the deck. REALLY great service! Back to the wedge salad. It was good but the dressing seemed a little watered down from the lettuce being too wet or maybe the dressing is that watery. Wish the bacon bits were a little bigger and not tiny crumbs. I didn't see a lot of blue cheese crumbles or bacon on the salad. But again, the fried oysters were a perfect size (not too big or too little and very fresh tasting). Husband also wanted fries (which were very crispy and hot!). All in all we thought it was worth the 60 mile drive for the service and especially the...
Read moreAny time we visit our best friends on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, they always take us to the most excellent seafood restaurants where I can indulge my food love affair with the famous Maryland Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. Now mind you, I am from New York and purchase jumbo lump crab meat but, folks, if it isn't from Maryland or isn't delivered by Congressional Seafood to the restaurant, caterer or market, there is a big difference in taste and appearance. So each year I go into my food coma starting here with the Cream of Crab soup. It is seafood splendor in a bowl! Decadently rich, this is the time you order by the bowl. Dismiss any thoughts of calories and cardiac concerns just for this meal. Have another glass of wine and relax by taking in the picturesque views as you savor your soup. For dinner, we go straight for the Crab Cakes. Now, of course, all the sides are delicious as well, but these remain untouched until I can make sure I can finish my crab cakes first. And many local guests here opt for the fresh fish selections, and these look amazing plated. As my husband does not share as great a passion for crab cakes as I do, he can attest further to the skillful preparation and quality fish the chef makes for you. You will not be disappointed here. A bonus is their location. Right off 301, you can park waterside and enjoy the view and brilliant sunsets. The Chesapeake Bay Bridges in the distance, boats cruising in to dock and others hauling in the day's catch, makes this both a favorite and happy place. We've enjoyed many family celebrations here and always look forward to our visits. We started coming here as newlyweds, now 34 years later and still can't get enough of these crab cakes. But here at the Narrows, "Our ship...
Read moreCame here to eat for an early birthday dinner since I saw this on Ryan Trahans 50 stated in 50 days video on Youtube. Food was amazing!!! My husband and I got the calamari, mini crab cakes and shared a bowl of cream of crab. Appetizers were sooo delicious!! Calamari was flash fried so it wasnt too greasy and the sauce was perfect. The mini crab cakes are so fresh. The cream of crab was WOW!! For our entree i got rhe lobster tail and filet which came with loaded mashed potatoes and succotash. Lobster tail was a bit rough but i still enjoyed it! My filet was cooked exactly how I liked it. Medium rare. It was so tender and juicy. Not a fan of succotash but i still ate it! My husband got the NY Strip with a lobster tail and also came with succotash. He was very pleased with his NY strip as it was also cooked to his liking of medium rare and enjoyed his lobster tail and mashed potatoes. For dessert i got a creme brulee. This creme brulee was the most thick and creamy brulee I've ever ordered! Every bite of this meal was heaven. Service was very fast and polite. Our server ( i forget her name) was amazing. So sweet so kind and attentive! She was also the server that Ryan Trahan had and I'm not gonna lie was geeked out when she told me were sitting where Ryan and Haley sat! Atmosphere was definitely giving relaxed bay saidr vibes. No matter where you're sitting you have a beautiful view of the bay. Its nice and quiet and everything was clean from the floors, tables and restrooms. Overall very happy with coming to...
