Vennaris Pizza Sub — Columbia
Rating: 4.3/5
Ambiance: Casual campus-adjacent spot with a modern, minimalist vibe. Bright, airy space during the day and cozier in the evenings. Friendly, quick-service counter setup; good for a study break or a casual bite between classes.
Flavor profile: A clever fusion that folds classic pizza elements into a submarine sandwich. The bread is crusty on the outside and soft inside, providing sturdy structure for the fillings. The sauce reads as a bright, tangy tomato base with a hint of oregano and garlic. Toppings typically include melted mozzarella, pepperoni or perhaps a veggie alternative, and a handful of fresh herbs. Each bite offers a balance of melted cheese, chewy bread, and savory toppings without any one element overpowering the others.
Texture and execution: The contrast between the crisp crust and the gooey cheese is spot on. The pepperoni (if included) delivers crisp edges and rich porky notes. The vegetables (if present) add a refreshing counterpoint and some crunch. The overall sandwich feels substantial without being greasy, thanks to a well-balanced sauce and properly seasoned fillings.
Portion and value: Generous sub size that can satisfy a hungry student. Price point sits in a reasonable mid-range for campus dining, especially considering the quality of ingredients. Great for a meal on the go.
Atmosphere for dining: Ideal for quick lunch cameos between lectures, catch-ups with friends, or solo study sessions. If you’re dining in, there’s usually a steady stream of orders, so expect a short wait during peak hours.
Dietary notes: If you have dietary restrictions, check if the sub is customizable. Common tweaks might include choosing a gluten-free option (if available) or swapping toppings to accommodate vegetarians or those avoiding pork.
Solid flavor balance between sauce, cheese, and toppings. Satisfying portion that’s good value for a campus meal. Easy to customize and portable.
Overall impression: The Vennaris pizza sub at Columbia is a dependable, tasty option that blends pizza vibes with a hearty sandwich format. It’s particularly appealing for those who want comfort flavors in a convenient, handheld form. A solid choice for campus dining that delivers on taste and portion...
Read moreWe placed a delivery through GrubHub for 2 subs and fries at 1:30 PM. At 2, my mother realized that the address defaulted to her old address. But the order was marked as not out yet. So she called to correct the address with Vennari's directly. The first gentleman she spoke to told her the order was delivered already and there's nothing he can do for her. He then got an attitude, argued about the delivery issue and hung up on her. She called back, there was a different gentleman who told her that her order was still there and he took her address and said it would be out in a little while. 30 minutes later, she called to find out where the order was, he told her it was already delivered.
Out of frustration, she called me. I then called Vennari's back. The guy told me the food was delivered and that I could put another order in and pay for it AGAIN and that if i wanted a refund, I'd have to go through GrubHub. So my mother walked over to the old address to ask her for the food. The lady (who my mother knows) says the delivery guy would not take the new address from her (which she has) and he said if she didn't take the food he'd just throw it away. She didn't take it. So he left with it.
The delivery man NEVER called my mother, he REFUSED to redirect when the person wouldn't accept the food, and when she called him he got rude and hung up on my mother when she asked where her food was. Horrible customer service. Grubhub refunded us, but we're done going...
Read moreI went there today to see about a postcard that I had gotten for my birthday about a free pizza. Now since I had gotten this in the mail a few weeks earlier I called to ask about it. I said I can't eat dairy and could I get 6 wings instead. The person I spoke with said sure no problem.
Now I have had their wings a few times before and I was really looking forward to it.
I went in today on my birthday, really looking forward to the wings. The Kid behind the register gave me a hard time from the start.
I showed the coupon for the free pizza and said I can't have a free pizza because I cant eat pizza, Can I do wings instead.
He said you can't have a free pizza that is only if you buy something else. I said look at the coupon and I read it to him. Free pizza for your birtday. Does it say only if you buy something else. No. So I want to get chicken tenders. Then he said something incredibly stupid- So why can't you eat pizza. I said well Im lactose intolerant but that is none of your damn business. What does that matter to you. He was like oh really? I said forget that is none of your business. I don't want it and started walking out. He said oh my mother has the same problem so I undertand. Excuse me stupid but if your mother had the same problem you would know mot to ask me why I can't eat pizza. I through the coupon in the treash right there and said I wo'nt be back again. I certainly won't. I dont need to be...
