My husband and I discovered this restaurant a few years ago and love it. We have never had a bad meal there. We recently had a family birthday dinner for my husband and the service was great, the food was great and we felt free to not have to rush. During the pandemic we did several take out orders just to support the restaurant. What I really appreciate it they are understanding that we don't drink. They give you the wine list, but when we order other drinks they are fine. We never hear anything bad about our choice. I have to admit I usually get the veal parmigan (sp) there. Partly because I don't buy veal as I am the only one who likes it in my household but mostly because it is amazingly good. I even eat the pasta because the sauce is excellent. We went there yesterday for Mother's Day (note to self- make reservations earlier if we want an earlier time!) and again it was fantastic. We had the antipasto and that was great. I had the veal parm and my husband had the spaghetti and meatballs (he has learned he likes veal meatballs!). We indulged in dessert, I had just the basic French Vanilla gelato but it was even better than I imagined. My husband had something that had coffee and caramel swirl in it and he loved it. I am Italian and this is almost like going to my grandmother's house when I was younger (I have to say almost because Grandma has to get first credit :) Everything is very authentic. If I had one wish and I know it can't be done, but if I had one wish, I would like more dishes that are made without wine sauces. I know the alcohol cooks out, but the wine itself does not mix with some medicines I take. I would have loved the Veal Francaise but it had a wine sauce and you can't separate them. I wish they would offer it two ways, one with a wine sauce and maybe the other with just a lemon butter sauce. But that is a wish. Nothing is going to prevent me from considering it my favorite Italian restaurant in the entire Baltimore area. It is a little pricey, but that's ok, it's worth it even with us tipping (we usually tip more than 20 percent as the service is excellent too. The staff go out of their way to make your entire experience wonderful. It is definitely our go to place for holidays or special occasions. This restaurant does not try to be authentic, it IS authentic. I can't say anything bad at all about...
Read moreMy dinner at Vito's was delicious. The atmosphere was nice and fairly quiet, which was enjoyable. The music was not so loud that you couldn't hear yourself think but still there for a bit of background noise. Service was nice as they filled up water quickly and the speed of the food delivery was excellent.
For starters, they had a very nice caprese salad, delicious clams casino (from someone who doesn't like clams, but throw bacon on something and it's good), scrumptious calamari and garlic shrimp. The calamari was a bit odd, as you also get some prawns and zucchini, which are fine enough, though if you just want the squid you'll get more than that. They also serve it with a horseradish sauce instead of marinara. Which was tasty but just unexpected. The real standout was the garlic shrimp. If there was an issue with it, it was that there weren't many shrimp served. Other appetizers could easily be spread amongst 5-7 people, but our party of 7 definitely was happy we ordered two servings of the shrimp. The garlic butter was maybe the most delicious thing I ate for the appetizers, I happily would have eaten that by the spoonful.
Their main courses were excellent. Most of their menu was certainly fancier affair than you might find in a less-pricy Italian restaurant but they do have a small classics menu with things like lasagna, chicken parm, or spaghetti and meatballs. But I recommend trying something else. If you do get the chicken parm you will get a gigantic slab of delicious, juicy chicken. Definitely worth it. Their crab meat pasta does not skimp on the crab meat, the fettucine with burrata does not skimp on the burrata, and the portions over all definitely mean you'll have leftovers, unless you refuse to leave any bits of crab meat behind like I do.
Even when stuffed to the brim, the desserts are excellent. They had a nice, crisp, freshly-filled cannoli or a good slab of cheesecake. I'd recommend either the creme brulee which is served in a nice, shallow dish so you get lots of caramelized sugar, or the profiteroles which are creamy and just decadent. All of the main courses were more than $20, desserts and appetizers were between $10 and $20, but, I'd say it was absolutely worth it for a great...
Read moreHad an excellent meal and server was appropriately attentive. HOWEVER, we will never be returning because of a poor will decision by someone in management. We have been there maybe 4 times over the last decade, mainly because it's pricier than we usually do. Because the food has always been worth it and it was our 35th anniversary, we went last night. The last time we were there they didn't have a liquor license but noted that you could bring your own wine, so I did. I placed my wine on the table and our server offered to open it, which I expected. He explained the specials then we looked at the menu and made our choices. As we were talking I noticed they were actually serving alcohol. I asked our server when that began when ordering dessert. He said they had added the new room we were seated in last Oct. and I missed what he said about serving alcohol. When he brought us our check the first thing on it was a $20 service fee for opening my bottle of wine. I had expected some fee for that but certainly not $20 ! I told him I was completely unaware of this policy and would not have had him open it had I known. I asked him to check with management under the circumstances and ask if they would be willing to credit me 10 of the $20 being charged. I mentioned that I did not see anything on the menu about alcohol. He came back and said "bad news". He he stated it is in small print on the bottom of every page of the menu and that the charge is $25 and they had charged me only 20. Had I known, I would have bought one glass of wine from them. Thus I felt offering $10 for their service was fair and a good place to meet me under the circumstances. Obviously, giving me the benefit of the doubt for the sake of good will was not important to them. Very...
