Food : Flavorful, authentic, homey. Food was full of flavors. Every dish you order has its own flavor profile. You can taste the freshness as it is made to your order. It's worth waiting if you have to. Authentic, it is not customized for American taste buds. They have kept the food real to its roots. If you're not indian and you want to taste a real Indian food, this place is for you. They have done a really good job of making you feel at home. So, if you're indian missing home food, this place is for you. Hospitality: We had the opportunity to have Milton as our host. He is the manager of the restaurant. But he is down to earth, humble, helpful, and informative person. He made sure that we were taken care of. He suggested different dishes to try. Especially my wife and my mother in law who are not indian they had many questions, and he answered them all. He took time and explained about every dish to very detail. And every other staff member was really good, including Raja.
Atmosphere : It is cozy and laid back. Mild music plays in the background. Colorful place. And very clean.
All in all, anyone who wants to taste and have authentic South Indian food this is a must place to visit. And I will guarantee this will become one of your...
Read moreJust got back home from dinner at Sangam!! Absolutely fabulous experience! Sangam is hands down one of my favorite Indian restaurants! The chef and hostess confirmed they were the former Massala Pot, a restaurant in the same area. I was elated! Portions are generous, food is fresh and delicious and prices are reasonable. The service is excellent. I really appreciated the chef coming out and asking me about my meal. He is very gracious and really cares that I enjoyed my meal. The restaurant has a nice, welcoming vibe and the hostess Priyanka (forgive my spelling!) was friendly and attentive. I noticed folks ordering take out and many sitting for dinner. The menu was easy to navigate, simple but thorough explanation of food selections and pictures to give you a flavor of their offerings. I like how I was asked my heat level- I selected medium. I ordered the shrimp with Chettinad spices, chili garlic naan and chicken tika masala. And yes, I ordered extra basmati rice… don’t judge me. If you may be hesitant to try Indian cuisine, this restaurant is perfect…if you are a seasoned foodie like me , you will be very impressed with the variety of regional and vegan/vegetarian/meat options. I can’t wait...
Read moreI was born and raised in Madras. I grew up eating South Indian food and never ate food in the US because I used to travel back to India for almost 4 months each year (pre-COVID) and the “Indian” food in the US never lived up to what I believed Indian food should be. Also, most food was North Indian and all South Indian places tended to serve only vegetarian…and I am a meat lover! When I saw Sangam was South Indian and had meat, I wanted to give it a try because my comfort food was always aapam/idiyappam and meat.
And man, that was the closest to great South Indian non-veg food I have had in the US. The food reminds me of my childhood and going to restaurants such as Ponnusamy and Velu military hotel. I am one of those people who if they like something will order the same thing over and over again..so, I’ve only had the prawn (eeral) thokku, kozhi vepudu, sangam special chicken and Goat sukka with plain aapam.
I have been there thrice in the past 10 days and twice taken friends who were also blown away! The others got the dosas, idlis and loved it!
Sangam truly is a gem for South Indian...
