It was midnight and my husband and I were on the way home from a fancy work party when we decided to stop and grab some food. There were two workers and neither were attentive. No one greeted us or offered us seating. After 5 minutes we found a table ourselves. We had to step over a huge spill on the floor to get to the only open table, due to the rest being covered in dirty dishes. A spill that was still there as we left 45 minutes later. After 7 minutes of seating ourselves we were brought menus and ordered. My husband was brought his food about 18 minutes after ordering, which ordinarily wouldn't be a long wait but we were the only two customers at the time. The wait wasn't an issue to us and can look past that. AFTER they served my husband his meal, they BEGAN cooking mine. We also never received the drinks we ordered. While my husband was eating his food we had to ask for them again. I ordered the All American Special with should come with two eggs, toast, grits (I switched that out for hash browns), sausage, a waffle and your choice of bacon or ham (I choose sausage). When my meal was finally delivered I was handed scrambled eggs and told that the server would bring the toast over soon. I was a little confused about that since I was still waiting on a number of other items. I waited patiently for way too long for toast, optimistically thinking the rest would come with it only to be disappointed by only receiving the toast. Luckily, they noticed this error before they bring us the check and we were only charged for what we received. I have worked in food service for 18 years and I could have dealt with all of this and looked past it without feeling the need to write a negative review. The worst part of our experience, the ordeal that led me to post my first negative review Ever was the Cockroach that crawled across the back of booth seat we were sitting in. At this point I was happy I didn't receive much food because I lost my appetite and wouldn't of been able to eat it. The health and safety issues (cockroaches and spilled juice all over the floor) are very concerning. The servers did not appear to be trained properly either. One server seemed to try and do their best but are not fit for this profession. The other server seemed much more competent to do the tasks at hand if they put effort in and tried but sadly they spent time talking with a friend/family member and making trips outside. Another table came in while we were there, the second server walked past their table 4 times, while the first server was making their food, and never bothered to get their drinks. They were getting their food as we left, still without drinks. A lot of attention and changed need to be made at this establishment otherwise I'd suggest it being...
Read moreI seriously love Waffle House .. I'd wish for them to move further North, but things don't always translate well when they do .. ;( If you've never been to a Waffle House, then please don't expect anything elaborate .. it's a basic Breakfast (served always) and Lunch/Dinner menu .. Seriously Folks, one side of a placemat sized menu is Breakfast and the other side is everything else .. lol **Truth .. I have yet to get to the "Everything Else" side of the menu .. lol .. It looks good, and I've been tempted, especially when I hear other customers placing their order .. but I have to admit that I am addicted to their Waffles and I love my Hashbrowns "smothered, covered and capped" .. lol .. Ordering them might just make you feel like an "old-time Diner employee" .. until, of course, you hear the waitstaff call your order to the cook(s) .. then you'll have no doubt that you are merely a rookie witnessing an age old artform .. The food comes out hot and fast .. it's been consistent no matter which location I've been to and over 30+ years .. maybe once, the meal was not as good as I thought it would be, but it still wasn't bad .. Coffee .. everyone who knows me, will tell you that I expect every Diner or breakfast joint to serve a drinkable cup of coffee and to keep it refilled up until the customer asks them to stop .. it's surprising to note how many diners are unable to meet this simple standard anymore .. I mean seriously, how many times have you been given a cup of coffee that is down right un-drinkable ? đ Only once have I had that problem at Waffle House .. (same location where I had the so-so meal .. I'm hoping they just had a bad day) Waffle House is known for serving a great cup of coffee and keeping it full .. even offering a take-out cup for you to take some with you after your meal .. If you've been to a Waffle House, you know why you look for them when you're on the road .. if you live near a Waffle House, then you're lucky to have access to such a tasty and consistent option for a value meal .. If you haven't been to a Waffle House, then jump on the opportunity when you get it and stop in .. you won't regret it. *PLEASE FORGIVE MY FORGETFULNESS .. I totally forgot to mention the staff .. Always Charming, Helpful and Enjoyable! Just look them up on social media to see how thoughtful they can be .. Keep up the great work!!...
Read moreSweet baby Jesus stay away ! We were on our way to South Carolina and my wife and I decided to tale our daughter and her 2 friends there for breakfast cause one of the girls said theyâd never tried it. We went in around 7am on a Friday morning. The place had another couple and 1 gentleman already in there. We should have left but the girls were hungry we waited a legitimate 15 minutes before the waitress came over. Then they told my wife they didnât have any hot tea. She actually went out to the car and brought back in her own yeti she was traveling with from Ny. The waitress said something about it but we ignored her since they didnât have tea. The service was ridiculously slow. The cook and the waitress looked like something out of a bad B movie. When the âfoodâ came it was inedible. My eggs were burned, my wifeâs were also. The 2 girls that got waffles ate about 1/4 of them cause they were cold. As we were sitting there making fun of my grits that looked like last nights mashed potatoes the âcookâ started tossing buckets of hot water on the slimy greasy floor⌠I guess to âcleanâ it. I had enough and we went to leave. I asked for the check and the waitress kept saying âI cant put a tip on the credit cardâ. I asked her 3-4 times what that meant. Finally my wife said âam i allowed to do it?â She was told yes. Finally the waitress said she had to walk to the register to do it. I did and made sure not to leave a tip. Congratulations Waffle HouseâŚu managed to get me to do something Ive never done beginning in 60 years and leave an eating establishment without tipping. Please do not go to the Waffle House unless youâre a methhead or some other junkie, homeless or you just hate your mother in law and want to leave...
