RibCrib BBQ — Restaurant in Mason City

I can only speak to the catering service. They are horribly disorganized and unreliable. Even if they pulled through at this point I wouldn't trust them to show up.

I original contacted them in February for an event in July. They use corporate to handle caterings. They said they only needed 24 hours notice. I gave them 30 days notice. No response at all. I called and left a voice mail. Kaylen the manager cc'd me in an employee email and said somebody get back to her please. Nobody did. I called 2 days later and said last chance I really need to speak to a live person and I'm running out of time. Kaylen called, apologized profusely for the service, but said she couldn't place the order herself (?) and then basically begged me to just call Rib Crib directly.

I gave RibCrib the benefit of the doubt that they were just using a bad catering contractor (later found out is corporate not 3rd party) I called and talked to Allison. She said she couldn't do the date and time I requested as they were already booked 🙄 This is now 3 weeks out and I was told only 1 day notice was needed for my group of 60. I asked about a different time and she said probably but she would need to double check as to not over book themselves. Fair enough. She took my info and said she'd call "right back". It's now been 24 hours since that phone call and no call back.

ETA: Someone did call back - a man, not Alison - and says my preferred day and time was available after all and they've had nothing but issues with the catering ordering platform please call them directly instead. They did show up with the food and...

Im torn on the # of ☆ to give. This was our first time here. The food was delicious, but the service not so much. When we were deciding, I asked her if the Cowboy Beans had onions, she said oh I dont know, and offered no attempt to find out... disappointing. We had Baby Back Rib Dinner- no prob came out as menu stated. We also had The Motherlode and Dirty Deeds Dinners - they came out and said they were out of pulled pork so we could choose a substitute, ok np we get it if they're out they're out. So our meals come out and there was some kind of pulled something on the plate the waitress nor another guy, poss mgr, oddly not could tell us what it was. On the menu the dinners say comes with corn on the cob, toasted bread and fries. We both got fries ok, np. Only one of us got corn. We were given coleslaw which wasn't even an option. And no one got toasted bread. When we asked the waitress almost seemed lost and confused. She said it was extremely busy earlier, and we understand that but now its only hr before closing and it's not busy at all, hang in there and push thru. She brought us the missing items after going to look at a menu to see what it said I guess. It was New Year's Eve and I'm sure they were very busy earlier, but it should not affect the service we receive when coming in toward end of night. The saving grace was that All of the food was delicious! Avg prices. I always feel guilty after leaving a bad tip (even now) cuz I know how hard they work, but unfortunately I couldn't justify 20-25% tip for the odd service and...

We arrived about 6:30pm with the parking lot pretty full. Which indicates people like this place. We had a 15 min. wait for a table, which was great. We were celebrating my Mother's 96th birthday. I indicated to the waitress this was our first time here. The waitress served our drinks in a timely manner and ordered. We had the smoke turkey plate, the 6 rib plate and 2 meat brisket and rib plate an hour later we had not received our food. There were 2 other tables that came in ordered and received their food before use. I asked the waitress why they received their food and we had been waiting 1 hour. The response was the had a large group out on the patio. Than I said my mother needs to eat waiting this long. The waitress said. It would be another 20 to 30 minutes. The response was do you was me to cancel the order and we wouldn't have to pay. I was really upset and requested the food to be brought now with to go boxes. My mother needed to eat. They finally brought our food which by the way was delicious. By the time we left it was 8:30pm. Don't know what happened to our order but there was someone dropped the ball.
