Village Court Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Mason City

I do not recommend this eat place!! I ordered the two piece boasted chicken with mashed potatoes no gravy. She never asked if I wanted white or dark meat. I received dark meat and I dislike dark meat. The potatoes came with gravy on them. Sent them back. They were obvious instant potatoes. The mixed vegetables that came with the dinner were canned vegetables that were totally over cooked and disguting looking, not fit to eat. My niece interviewed on my part and asked the waitress if we could get white meat instead of the dark meat. She assured us we could but we would have to wait for it. I said that would be fine. Meanwhile every one had finished their meal by them and I asked for a to go container and stuck the chicken in the box and proceeded to check out. At check out I was told the cost of my bill and asked why it was so high and they stated that I had to pay for 2 dinners even though they took the dark meat back and charged me for a whole new dinner. I always love coming to VC. This is my favorite place to go for an affordable meal that tastes amazing. The food is ALWAYS top notch. Never burned, under cooked or made wrong. Never a long wait time. Always made specifically how I ask them, if it's something special I don't like or want to change. Usually, the wait staff is amazing and friendly. I've only encountered one rude waiter working there. He might of been having an off day, bad day or whatever. The last 2 times I've went, he was my waiter and gave me and the table of people (4) the impression he wasnt happy to serve us. It was a very slow day in there, hardly busy at all. He just acted like he was annoyed with us. We were all very pleasant with him and each of us tipped him since we knew it wasnt busy. The rest of the waitstaff is really pleasant tho. I will still come back again. The food is great. Prices are affordable. Parking is never a hassle. I can't pinpoint my favorite item there, I love just about everything I've ever ordered. Must have caught them on a bad day. Food was actually pretty good (except cook doesn't know cook times for fried chicken, had to cut into it to make sure it was done). The server staff left a lot to be desired. Ordered food, wrong food brought to my table at first, luckily i stopped the server before she put it down. (i would have been upset had that been my food set on someone else's table) looked totally lost when i told them that it wasn't mine. When my order did come out, it wasn't right, but i didnt want to throw a wrench into the works and just took it as it came (the main course was correct at least.) I went to pay, the cashier asked if i needed a receipt which i appreciate, but that was all she said the entire exchange.
