I rode my bike today in 90 degrees, went to this sonic to purchase a large strawberry slushy with nerds and when I payed and got my change and drink handed to me, I noticed it wasn't the normal red smoothie I usually get, it was an all white shake with nerds, whipped cream and cherry on top so I instantly knew something was up. The girl came out and let me know last minute instead of when I was ordering that their slushy machine was down after I already gave them the money and said that what they gave me was a slushy so I cant get a refund. I say "shouldn't I not have to pay for this since it isn't a strawberry slushy?". she said "well its basically the same thing, that's why." and walked back inside, didn't give me my receipt either. I couldn't just walk inside cause its not a inside restaurant nor did I have my phone with me so I leave off on bike knowing I just had to pay the price of a large slushy with nerds for a large milkshake with nerds , whipped cream and cherry that I had no intentions of ordering or eating. So I went home to call the manager, the manager admitted to knowing she gave out a milkshake in replacement of slushy when I asked for a slushy in the fist place. I ask her if there's a way I can get a free drink or a voucher and she says "well we cant do anything unless you have the drink with you and we can exchange it for a slushy since our machine is now back up and the smoothie has thickened up finally but as far as giving you a free drink we cannot do that" even though they knowingly purposefully gave me a wrong drink. Read moreAfter ordering our food, I went inside to ask if I needed a key to access the restroom and there was a lady sitting on the food counter texting on her phone. She said, "no, but I guess I can unlock it". It took awhile before that was done. Upon getting our food, we noticed that we were missing one whole meal from our order. I drove to the drive thru to attempt to get the missing items. I was informed that we were not charged for the missing items, even though it showed the items on the order screen and was charged again. I was not given a receipt when we received our initial food. The lady at the drive thru was extremely rude about the situation also. Once we began eating our food, my wife found a full hair in her fries and her chicken was not fully cooked. My cheeseburger was terrible and the bun was soggy. Sonic used to be a great place to eat, but this experience has ruined the chances of coming back. Hopefully this terrible meal doesn't make my family sick.....I DO NOT recommend giving the Sonic in Mattoon, IL any business. The sign out front said they had a new GM, I'd venture to say they've got their work cut out...

Our wait time was over 10 minutes, the guy told us he didn't know which was diet on the drink, which they were watered down and flat. The grease was so old and nasty. We ordered a crispy chicken sandwich meal on brioche and tots, a chicken on toast and tots and a garlic burger on brioche and tots. The grease was so old and the chicken was so Grey and white spotted it was gross. We were in a major hurry or we could have returned for our money back! I've eaten here multiple times and this was not how it normally is for us. They need to work on following customer service skills and proper cleaning of the grease. I used to work at McDonald's and I know for a fact the grease was not in any shape to cook food in today! I literally had to pull over and throw up, tasting nothing but old grease, and I paid over $42 for the whole order! And they DID NOT GIVE US A RECEIPT!
