Juanito’s Mexican Cocina MATTOON — Restaurant in Mattoon

I walked away from Juanito's with an upset tummy. BECAUSE I COULDN'T CONTROL MYSELF AND ATE TOO MUCH!!!! Solid interior and decor. BEST SERVICE YET! The staff was so friendly and helpful and was clearly having a good time at work. It seems like the owners treat them right and I hope that's the case. CLEANEST BATHROOMS IN MATTOON. I walked in there an was instantly impressed. Smelled STRONGLY of bleach and floral cleaner. Not a spot to be found. I would have gladly eaten my food in there. Speaking of, without a doubt the best Taco I've had yet. Everything was just how I liked it. Rice and beans were average, but that's not a bad thing. Burrito could have used some more veggies in there and the red sauce was on the sweet side. Not bad, I thought the sauce went well with the beef. Salsa and chips were a cut above to be sure. Just how I like it. A nice tomato paste with soap for seasoning. Overall, this is the best yet. The food I ordered could have been bad and I still would have walked away...

Got seated and there was only one other couple sinc4e it was an early meal. After we ordered I noticed the other couple had a dog laying under their table. There were no obvious signs of disability so I assume they consider the dog an "emotional support " animal. NO SUCH THING, congress does not recognize this. If you need your dog that much, ORDER TAKE OUT. The food arrived and the sauce over my burrito and chili relleno tasted like it was ketchup based. The burrito was cold, and I'm not talking like it wasn't hot enough. It was cold like it just came out of the fridge. The relleno wasn't coated in an egg batter and fried. They fried up an egg and then wrapped it around the pepper. My wife's quesadilla was good, but my meal was disgusting. That, combined with them allowing an animal in their dining room makes me give this place...

I always have a good experience with service and food when DINING IN. However takeout has been a different story. This is the amount of salsa we received for 3 meals & cheese dip! (I took this photo before we started eating- no joke that's all we got) It's barely even half full! This isn't the first time this has happened, or where we didn't even get our salsa. We also didn't get our homemade hot sauce that we requested (its amazing). This really upsets me because we don't live in town. I get all the way home to find we are missing what we requested or get a bogus amount of salsa. I hope y'all step up your game on this bc your food is very good and so is the service. I'll probably give it one more try with take out but if it happens like this again I'll be grabbing Taco Amigos for now on for...
