WARNING: This food truck may no longer exist!
We have really enjoyed the taco food trucks while on Maui. We saw Jazzy’s was one of the higher rated food trucks around, so we made the drive to try it for lunch. When we arrived at the location shown on google, it was empty. We called the number and a voicemail stated they weren’t working that day, June 1st, and would be back the next day. Slightly annoying since it wasn’t showing on google, but we understand things happen! No worries, we’ll try again.
We made the drive back again for lunch at noon, on June 5th, and again no Jazzy’s truck, just a JAW’s taco truck close by. We double checked Jazzy’s hours and saw it was 10:30-4, so we were well within the time. We thought maybe she relocated around the Makena beach area depending on foot traffic, so we drove down every Makena beach entrance, as well as 15 minutes down the main road and back. After wasting an additional hour looking for her, we again called the number and the same voicemail stated they weren’t working June 1st….. yet it was the 5th. We left a voicemail asking to call us back and let us know when the food truck might be around and we never received a call back. After a wasted hour, we ended up heading over to another food truck and reported this as a wrong location.
It might be delicious, it might be closed, we’ll never really know. Don’t waste your vacation time...
Read moreThis is a genuine Mexican food truck. The tacos we had were almost as authentic as you'd find in Mexico or back home in Los Angeles (with a population of Mexicans in excess of several million). These tacos are not to be confused with tacos you might find in a restaurant made by gringos in Hawaii. We had the fish tacos with mango-papaya salsa, carne asada tacos, shredded chicken tacos and tacos al pastor. Although the pastor tacos are not cooked on a trompo (pastor aficionados will know that's the vertical rotating spit) and there's no pineapple added (strange given it's practically a staple in Hawaii) you almost don't notice. The meat is cubed in bite size chunks that are perfectly pastor flavored and juicy. The fish tacos were very juicy, battered and fried with a mango-papaya salsa liberally added atop. The shredded chicken was juicy, and almost a good things prep. They all came on traditional 5"...

We've visited the island on two separate trips and made at least 6 efforts on different days and times to eat here. We visited the island two years ago and WOW, this was THE BEST spot to pickup exceptionally good food... But not anymore.
It's a shame because their Google listing shows as open, but they're not there. They have a phone number to call, but nobody ever answers or returns any calls. They have a FB page, but hasn't updated it since 2021. Communication seems to have just gone down the drain. Sad.
We'll keep trying on our next visit to the island, but in the meantime, it's been a disappointing experience. If by some miracle, they emerge again, I'll gladly edit...
