Taqueria el sancho — Restaurant in McAllen

So my brother and nephew recommended this place. Alright lets check it out. Atmosphere was good service was good. Food was good not great. Why do I always get a full cup of caldo beans with barely any beans and minimal flavor. Ponganle sazon o algo. Stand out. My nephew stayed traditional. Tacos de asada ( or minitacos) tortilla could use a bit more oil and a bit longer cook time. Asada wasnt bad. A 3.5/5 My brother the tacos sancho. Those were actually quite good. Definitely a 4.5/5. I went with the Birria tacos. 2nd place I come across that doesnt not drench the tortillas in consome to cook them. Why??? Like if my taco isnt wet and red/orange because of the consome it was cooked in pues whats the point. Birria was a bit dry. A bit of rehydration with the consome pruor to assembly goes a long way. 3.5/5. Their cucumber pineapple agua fresca dude i want that recipe. A toda madre. 10/5. All in all a decent experience....

This place was an amazing find! I ordered the Tacos Matamoros with bistek in corn tortillas and it was delicious! Our waitress was very attentive and quickly and enthusiastically answered our questions. The food came out quickly and correctly. My wife's order was also great. We shared a glass of the Pina Colada agua fresca and it was so good we had to get a refill. The music and decoration of this place is great. The music was a little loud but we did happen to sit next to the speaker so next time we'll just sit further away and it'll be fine. I was surprised by the little fun looking devices that are on all the tables. But the waitress explained that since the restaurant is mostly outside, it helps keep the flies away from our plates and it seemed to actually work. I can't wait to...

This was my first visit so I’d love to go back and try other food as locals highly recommended this place. From the outside this looks like a restaurant but it’s actually a patio with food truck in back. So it feels like you’re sitting outside. The birria tacos were good and waitress super friendly. I hate to mention this, but what ruined my dinner were the flies. Maybe it’s not always this bad, but I was constantly fighting them off to eat. I felt rushed as I wanted to eat fast before they landed on food. They did have twirling fans on table to help keep them away but it only helped a little.
