We happened to come across this place on a Friday night after running to Home Depot. We had no idea what to expect. Let me tell you, we were BLOWN AWAY. The food was EXCELLENT.
Our meals were EXCELLENT. We started with steamed edamame—steamed to perfection. It truly was soft and salt= perfect! We also had 2 chicken eggrolls and they were fried to perfection. Often times, I find egg rolls rather greasy, but these were crispy and not greasy at all!!
Our entrees were Szechuan Kung Pao Beef, Shrimp Fried Rice, and for our vegetarian- Veggie Fried Rice. I ordered the beef extra spicy, and it had a nice heat to it. I could have gone hotter, but without instructing it, I feel the level of heat was pretty impressive as-is. The beef was obviously a higher quality beef- it was not at all chewy, as it often is. The meat melted in my mouth, with the sauce being a nice consistency. Even the white rice was excellent. How many times can you actually say something about basic white rice?!?! But, seriously, it wasn’t sticky or gummy—it was perfect.
The fried rices my companions had were also praised in high regard. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, with non greasy rice. It was noted as being very flavorful and an excellent consistency. The fried rice was noted as the “best Fried Rice I have EVER HAD”, noted by my vegetarian teen. It looked very high quality, and she was eager to bring home her leftovers.
All in all- we were very happy to stumble across this gem! Our wait got to be a little long, but the staff was great about keeping us up to date with the order, and it was definitely worth the wait! We will definitely...
Read moreLocated on Custer in front of the Home Depot in McKinney. If there was an option for half stars this would have been 3.5 stars. I did take out so there might have been an issue with food being packed up. This was my first time here and I was excited to hear about some good Chinese food in the area finally. I went very basic on this first visit to get a feel for how they do with the everyday items. My order was the famous Szechuan chicken dumplings and sweet and sour chicken. I requested fried rice with the sweet and sour chicken when ordered online. I don’t get that just white rice. I liked how they had the items separated for take out so it wouldn’t get soggy. The chicken looked great in the box. It was a bit soft though which might have been from steaming in the to go box. The flavor was very good although the breading because it was soft didn’t hold up great. The dumplings looked like any other dumpling but these were extremely tasty. It came with their special Szechuan sauce that was excellent. The issue was the amount of sauce which was about a tablespoon. The tiny container it came in was 1/4 full. I would have loved more of the sauce. I felt pricing was on the high side with the small portion size I received. This was not off the lunch menu. Overall the smaller portion didn’t feel like a very good deal but everything tasted very good and I would like to try something else from the menu and eat at...
Read moreI visited last Saturday with my family and was very pleased with both the food and the service. We had such a positive experience that I decided to return today (Tuesday) to celebrate a friend’s birthday, hoping to enjoy the same level of service and quality. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing from the start. When we asked a question about the menu, the server (a woman) responded with noticeable rudeness and frustration, which immediately made us feel unwelcome. We ordered from the lunch menu—orange chicken and shrimp. When the shrimp dish arrived, we were surprised to find it consisted of only five very small shrimp, especially compared to the generous portion of chicken. We politely asked if we could change the order to something else, and while another staff member agreed, the female server again treated us rudely. When she brought the replacement dish, she placed it on the table and said, “This is a lunch menu. If you wanted more food, go to a Chinese buffet.” This comment was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful, especially given that we were simply trying to enjoy a birthday lunch. It’s unfortunate that such poor service overshadowed what was supposed to be a special occasion. I truly enjoyed my first visit, but this second experience was disappointing and made us feel unwelcome. I hope you take this feedback seriously, as no guest should be made to feel this way....
