My recent visit to a Greek restaurant, lured by decent reviews, turned out to be a major letdown. The calamari I ordered was shockingly chewy and clearly not fresh, a far cry from what the menu promised. Despite voicing my dissatisfaction, I was still charged for the dish; was told by the waitress that is how they cook it. No- that is a lie and inability to take responsibility: it was frozen and overcooked. Plain and simple, I could not even chew it!. . Even with my background as a former server and bartender, I found it hard to justify not leaving a tip for such subpar service and quality- but I couldn’t and this was the first time I ever done that. As a server I would comp poor quality food for my patrons- would get the manager to apologize even- it’s basic 101. The gyro my dad had was also dry and bland, probably a few days old by colour, served with a lackluster pickle straight from a jar. It was not even a sandwich that is typically rolled up and he had to use a fork and knife. He kept saying this is the worse he’s even seen. The fries tasted unmistakably frozen, adding to the disappointment. . Despite these culinary mishaps, the drinks were decent, can’t screw up a wine and can of beer- although the Guinness was poured incorrectly. the cleanliness of the establishment was good though. Nevertheless, the overall experience left much to be desired, and I have no intention of returning anytime soon. $49.45 for frozen food- food is also not Greek. Basically a bar with poor service and food. And u know it is bad when u go somewhere else to eat immediately afterwards. Recommendation to the restaurant: order fresher calamari, learn to cut it up correctly and do not overcook it- it becomes rubber like or chewy and then can’t be digested. try other nearby places to compare- ur other sauce also made no sense and was smokey- these do not go together flavour wise. Learn to taste ur food to check quality b4 serving it. it becomes rubbery. Train staff to pour beer better. Train staff to do proper checks on patrons and how to handle a bad order (i.e. get management involved and comp food that cannot be eaten or provide alternative- do not just shrug and walk away thinking it is ok someone cannot eat ur food). Rebrand yourself as bar food rather than Greek as it is misleading - nothing u had, except a handful of items was remotely greek. The place was closer to a Coney Island joint but even they have better food. Food is also overpriced for jar, frozen like quality food. Better pricing scheme...
Read moreMy friend and I ordered the beef kabob. His meat was very tough, and he ate little of it. Mine was somewhat tough, but I managed to eat it though it seemed as if it was burnt and it later gave me indigestion! Our mistake was not telling the newly employed, inexperienced, but nice, waitress at the start. Though my friend fully intended to pay for the bad meal, we did tell the waitress at the end of the meal about the disappointing outcome. She went in the back to convey the information and returned stating the response was "we/I ate it!" What a VERY poor way to handle the situation!! A manager should have come out and spoken to us directly about the situation instead of sending the waitress as a "messenger" to relay such an unprofessional and non-customer courteous response coupled with his/her avoidance of dealing with the communication directly. Suffice to say, my friend ate very little--the vegetables--and left the rest; he paid the bill, and we left. This was a pathetic way for management to handle this! We will NOT be returning and will tell our many contacts to steer clear of Milo's restaurant!...
Read moreMy wife and I were looking for a nice restaurant for a quiet dinner, with outside seating. We had heard about Mylo's Grill from a friend and decided to drive down and check it out.
We were not disappointed!
First, don't think that because it is in a shopping plaza, that it is low quality faster food. It is absolutely delightful. They have a great menu with lots of options, and we went with the calamari, lamb kabob, fries tossed with garlic and served with feta cheese (not on the menu (yet) so you have to ask for it), and a bottle of a French Bordeaux. We finished with Greek coffee and baklava.
The food was amazing, and much to our delight, the service was just as wonderful as the meal. The young man who was our waiter did an amazing job, and there are few places where you can find such good service.
If you want either a great meal out, or a romantic meal out, Mylo's should be at the top of your list. With COVID having such a financial impact on the hospitality industry, take the time to come out and support a great restaurant that was able to make it through...
