Bambu — Restaurant in Medford

My partner and I went here to give it a try. We like Asian food and always look forward to finding new restaurants in town. When we arrived we were made aware the only seating they had at the moment was outside. The patio was nice and surrounded by bamboo and other nice plants. There were space heaters because it was a little chilly. The only problem on the patio was one of the space heaters was ringing super loud and not working correctly. The waitress tried to get it to work but could not. It just so happened to be one we were sitting under. It was unpleasant but we were fine. We ordered a pad Thai and a dim sum plate. The food took a while to get out, about 30 minutes, which wouldn’t have been so bad if the heater wasn’t ringing like it was. They accidentally gave me some tiger rolls which I didn’t realize at first as I had thought it came with the dim sum. I apologized and they said it was fine they would make another. The thing that really irked me about this was another waitress came out and just threw her coworker under the bus! I know mistakes happen but out of all she told me, the only relevant part was that it wasn’t on the bill. People make mistakes, I wasn’t upset. I felt bad for the other worker. The food was okay, a little bit pricy for what was actually ordered. The sauces that came with each dish were overwhelming and didn’t really compliment the food. The food here was very good, however the service was not. Granted we had a large party, but the waiter seemed very disorganized and even rude and dismissive at times. He greeted the table by saying “Wow, so you’re all on separate checks? Can you try to change that?” and then walked away. This was not in a joking manner either.

This was a surprise birthday party so we all showed up about 10 minutes before the birthday guest, and the staff was made aware of this during the reservation and also when we checked in, however we were pressured multiple times to start ordering before the main guest even arrived.

I had ordered an appetizer as my entree as I wasn’t too hungry, and when they came out with the appetizers they asked who had ordered the dish, and I along with several other people at the table said I did. Well about 10 minutes later the waiter blamed me for taking someone else’s appetizer, as mine was coming out with the main courses, but I was not aware of that.

On the menu it says they encourage sharing entrees yet we weren’t even given sharing plates for the appetizers. We had to wait nearly 15 minutes for the waiter to come around again so we could get plates and...

I had really high hopes for this place. I had heard some great things about it, but unfortunately I had a negative experience. I had put in my order and never saw anyone again till our food came out which took 45 minutes. The tables beside me got helped multiple times and ignored mine. I had witnessed a couple get seated, order placed, food brought out, cashed out and left in the time I was waiting to be helped and got my food. The extent of my service was me being asked if I wanted soy sauce with my food. The prices were crazy for what they were and for me to be ignored while watching others around me receive help left me not wanting to come back. I was finished with my food and just sitting for 20 minutes and again witnessed the people next to me be asked if they wanted desert or any more drinks and asked if they could do anything more for them. I was never asked any questions aside from when I placed my order and got my food.
