Best Mexican food in Medford!

We love this place for a lot of reasons, but I’ll start with their kids menu. They offer $7 kids meals all week long but on Sundays - kids eat half price!! You’ll find lots of families with kids enjoying the half price kids menu.

It’s a pretty venue with lots of colorful murals. They have 3 large dining room sections, plus a bar, and an outside patio area for dining.

The staff is always friendly with great service.

The food is consistently great. This is the only place that has queso (cheese dip) as an appetizer. Chips and queso were staples of eating at a Mexican restaurant on the east coast (where we’re from), and we struggled to find it in southern Oregon. If you’re in that boat- this is your place!!

The servings are enormous. You’ll be taking home leftovers for sure. We didn’t order drinks, but they were popular at all the other tables around us.

The chips and salsa are always good, but at the end of the meal they bring these amazing cinnamon sugar chips with whipped cream. I don’t know what they’re called, but we look forward to them every time.

Their prices are good, especially with the huge serving sizes. They offer a wide variety of choices including vegetarian options.

There are other locations with the same name, but the N. Phoenix Rd location is hands down...

OMG! I will NEVER go to any other Mexican restaurant in Medford again if I possibly help it. I can't believe I FORGOT El Molcajete! It used to be very far from where we live. I recommended it to a hispanic instructor I had when her entire family came here from S. Cal to visit. Everyone agreed it was 'the best'. I found one other authentic Mexican restaurant where I have eaten a dozen times but EVERY SINGLE TIME I asked for LOTS of extra cilantro, they NEVER put ANY in my burrito. I found another restaurant, but they had the same cilantro problem and recently went out of business. Not El Molcajete! Cilantro! AND HUGE portions in an extremely useful, heatable aluminum container. I forgot about the unasked supersizing. I used to order delicious soup and take home the remainder for the next day. This is perfect! As with any truly authentic Mexican restaurant, they have delicious seafood too. Now if only they had pulque or Tejuino! FINALLY (again). I forgot to mention the lovely, warm, inviting interior of both restaurants. The walls are a warm and lovely color with Mexican accents, murals and Telavera tiles throughout. The designer is superlative. Any idea of tacky, sterile chain decor vanishes here.This would be a fine place for a cozy romantic meal. In fact, I'd love to have this designer remake my...

If there was an option to give no stars I would. Eating at this place was the worst experience I have ever had. My husband and I came there once before very briefly. So we wanted to give it another try. I must say that the man who waited on us was not only extremely rude and disrespectful, he made us feel like we were less than. Like it was a bother to take our order and bring us our food. He spoke very rudely to me which caught me extremely off guard. He was rude to my husband as well. We didn't want to spend one more second there so we boxed up our food and came home. I was very upset by the way we were treated the rest of the night. I work in food service so I know how customers are supposed to be treated. And I only give positive reviews on Google. But the amount of disrespect we recieved I needed to say something. The owner of this restaurant really needs to take a good look at the people there. I will never return to this location or visit the other Medford location. I have never been so insulted in my life.
