THE DISHWASHER NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!! I don't know why every time I have a appointment set up it's 45 minutes after they seat you until they even start to bring out the food to start cooking. The visit this go around was not so great it could be because they switched owners. The thing that really got me was how filthy the dishes and silverware were. The dishes had deep scratch marks on almost everyone plate sitting next to me along with HEAVY SOAP/WATER STAINS. The next thing I noticed was little dried pieces of food stuck to the dishes/silverware. I ended up just eating with the filthy fork and dish because it didn't seem to make a difference as everyone's else's were dirty also :-(. The chef however Robert saved the day with his great cooking and attitude. This guy really knows how to cook food especially steak. The rest of the staff is semi decent and friendly but after your meal is cooked and the show is over there is barely any eating time. The staff is instantly bringing To-go boxes so they can get the next group in so I got that "rushed" feeling. This is a solid 3 out of 5 for sure and being one of a few places in town that do a "food show" you get what you get.

I have been going to Shoji's since the early '90s. Back then the food was great. The chef was great, and the atmosphere was fun. I haven't been there for many years, but I went tonight for my brother's birthday. The food was not great, the chef was new and not very well trained, in the atmosphere not so fun. Several times food was flicked on customers around the table by accident. The chef kept talking about how much money he makes in his personal life. Highly inappropriate. I attempted to order gluten-free but ended up not eating anything because of heavy cross-contamination. The best part of the night was the ninja drink. It was good.

Finally sat at a table last night 45 minutes after our reservation time and took my first bite of food (an overdressed salad with browning lettuce) an hour and 15 minutes after the reservation time. The whole place was chaotic, they’d clearly just had their main dinner rush but it seems the staff mostly mentally checked out by then. We could see lots of cooks and staff in the back and cleaning up other tables while we sat at an empty table for 30 minutes. Anything we asked for we had to ask at least twice, staff flew by us and wouldn’t make eye contact when we were looking to order more drinks or ask for water refills. Every staff member we engaged with forgot something we’d asked for at least one time- but never followed up, we just had to ask another staff member for it when we could find one. There was no apologetic energy in response to repeated mistakes. I happened to run into an old friend I’d not seen in 15 years sitting at our table and when we mentioned MySpace (cuz ya know, the old days) the cook verbally steamrolled me repeatedly to mansplain to us the most recent changes to MySpace and how it functions. Several times I attempted to finish my sentence to my friend and he had zero consideration for our conversation or the fact that we were not interested in what he was trying so hard to “educate” us about. He also casually mentioned that it’s typical to sit down 45 minutes after your reservation time there, which felt a little like gaslighting a hungry customer who planned to eat an hour ago on a Wednesday evening at 8pm. My boyfriend’s medium rare steak was overcooked, his shrimp was undercooked and I was the only person at the table who ordered ONE meat item but he cooked mine last, so other’s enjoyed 2-3 protein items while I waited even longer. Overall, the prices are higher than Oh’s, the time it takes to even see your meal takes longer than Oh’s, quality of food is much better at Oh’s and the service is a sick joke at Shoji’s. They should make it very clear that you’ll be eating over an hour from your reservation time when you make a reservation. They knew I was unhappy about the timing and offered nothing more than for me to add an appetizer to my order (not offered to be comped.) the last time I went to Oh’s and our cook was running 5 minutes behind the owner came around and offered everyone free appetizers- just saying. We won’t be back to Shoji’s ever- only went there cuz Oh’s is closed on Wednesday. Shoji’s was a horrible experience from start to finish. My boyfriend left a 20% tip anyway cuz he’s nicer than me, but I would...

OH’s is way better! Made a dinner reservation for(4) at 5:30 pm today. Arrived a few minutes early. We were asked to wait off to the side. We were seated about 20 minutes later with another party. We asked if we could sit together the Hostess said no. As we were seated. We were next to another party whom was a party of (5) but they were waiting for 2 to show. We sat for 45 more minutes waiting for their late friends to arrive. This killed the mood. They started cooking ours but held off the meat order for the late folks. This later was apparent as they gave mine to them as we watched them not bring more chicken out.

To make matters worse I ordered double chicken. That means you get double chicken and pay a little more. I was served last but sat first next to the left of the cook. a light spatula portion …while he gave my extra portions to the late guests. I mentioned to him I had ordered double. He ignored me and asked the late guest that had ordered single chicken if they wanted more. He gave them more then turned around and gave me a single nugget off his spatula. To top matters he put down extra salt on the grill and said here is some extra salt for our salty guests. Then said I will be like a baby and head out.

IN THE FUTURE, I will take the $120.00 I spent at your restaurant to OHs and celebrate! I would give 2 stars but because the hostess had no honest interest in hearing what...

Im sure it was probably just a bad night, but the food? Was great! The service? Was awful.. I feel kinda bad for the kid cooking for us, but he mustve been new or something? I think he told 2 or 3 jokes the whole 2 hrs he was cooking for us. And maybe a few more sentences beyond that? He failed aaall the tricks. Failed to toss and crack the eggs, failed to toss and catch the egg shells (cook behind him caught it mid air actually) and spilled something on his cooking cart. He was butting heads a bit with the chef behind him who was just trying to make sure he was ok. You could jjust tell he had a very long and rough day. He didnt say hardly anything after that and the food took a VERY long time for it all to finally get served. Our hostess was nice, but failed to check in on us much at all. 1hr went by before she looked at us long enough i could even wave her down to ask for a soda and more water. 40mins before she checked again and didnt ask if i wanted refils. Just brought us all some bottles of water and left. Some folks sitting next to us didnt even get the appetizer they ordered. Then i got my check, and while i was standing in line, hands me a new one, because they forgot to add a small sake i ordered. This is by far the worst shojis experience ive ever had. Which is crazy for an $84 bill... At least the flavors of the food was...
