One star is very generous. My name is Michael and last night 12/10 will be the last time I ever visit Bonsai. My experience started with a lady that was snippy from the get go. Once seated we had to wait a while to be asked what we would like to drink. When the waitress brought out our drinks she didn’t get them right... while she was taking our order we asked if tobiko came o any of our rolls, the lady stated yes the rolls we ordered have tobiko on top which was what we wanted. When we got our food NONE of the rolls had tobiko on them. When we went up to the counter and asked why they didn’t put tobiko on our rolls the instantly became rudely defensive and stated we ordered it with no Tobiko. We told the guy who makes the sushi and some other lady that we did not ask for them to take it off. So the lady came by with a little bowl of it and tossed it onto our table. We thanked her asked if she is charging us for it and she said no. Then later she stated $2.50 for it and I stated I find that rather in fair since they messed up. On my bill they showed that they were charging us $4.50 so I stated that I will not pay for it since for one y’all messed up and two you stated the bowl was $2.50 I asked for a manager and there were none on duty which I don’t understand since it was only 7:00pm. I decided to write a note on the receipt stating that we had the worst experience that we have ever encountered at this restaurant. So at 12:00pm on 12/11/17 I called and asked if the owner or manager were there and the lady stated yes they are both here. She then asked me for my name and said oh you need to hold.. few mins go by and she stated that they were both walking out the door. I then said hmm you just stated they were there and I asked for one of their names so I know who to speak to and they stated that she could not tell me a name. She told the guy in the background that I want to speak to the owner and he told her to hang up and so that’s what she did.... I am beyond appalled at how I and my family have been treated and I will not let this...
Read moreI just wanted to edit this review after looking at my grandmothers receipt. This is not even a gratuity charge this is just a charge for more than six people and then they wanted a tip on top of that.
I have never had such bad service at a restaurant. We went to Bonsai Teriyaki & Sushi Medford, OR 4 adults and 2 children in their menu it reads in bold red letters large parties charged 18% gratuity no mention of how many a large party is, then we get the bill on the bill it says we will be charged 18% for more than 6 people and that was charged. No it did not say 6 people or more it is more than six people. When we questioned the waitress about it she was extremely rude picked up the bill and we asked her to read it she read it she said yeah more than six people count how many people you have… she literally sat there and yelled at us in front of everyone while the manager and the rest of the workers sat there and laughed. They should be incredibly embarrassed by the way she acted. Never again will we or will I ever recommend this place as this brunette waitress was unlike any other waitress. If you want good service or any service at all do not go there. The food was great so it’s sad they allow someone to act in such a childish way. Not only that most people give more than that for a tip so that’s not the problem it’s being charged when we didn’t even have more than 6...
Read moreI always enjoy finding little secrets like this. They're right there, you pass them every day, but somehow you miss them or you just don't give them a chance because the big-name restaurants are easier and more reliable.
Will I tried this place for you. Let me assure you that you need to stop driving by. The quaint atmosphere and the quiet location absolutely hide the phenomenal sushi. I ordered a Volcano roll and the rock star while my girlfriend got a lion king, Hollywood , and a dragon roll. Exquisite is the word that comes to mind. Every piece of sushi we got was a beautiful masterpiece, and frequently, when it looks good, it tastes o k, but that is not the case here. The sauce is glazed to perfection and the tempora is very obviously fresh. The colors are made through searing the fish or Mixing the sauce and other ingredients in a perfect manner. You can even tell that the fried tempora batter for my rock star was handmaid and had a lovely slight sweet but clean finish.
I am ecstatic to visit this place again and I need everyone to realize how tasty it is so that they thrive and continue to be an amazing gem in medford.
If you are unsure where to go, let me make it very clear that this is easily one of the best places I've...
