We swung in for the first time today in search of breakfast and will definitely be back, not just for the food, but the service as well.
Food: We got a turkey sausage, egg, and cheese on an onion bagel as well as a sesame bagel with chive cream cheese. The turkey sausage was the best I've had. Not dry, not over- or underseasoned. The chive cream cheese was phenomenal. You could taste the chives, not just perceive them with your eyes, which is my biggest hangup about chive cream cheese despite loving chives. Both bagels were crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I haven't had a bagel that fresh in a while.
I ordered a bananas foster coffee after food (I should've ordered the drink with the food). The flavored coffees are brewed flavors, not just a plain coffee mixed with an unknown number of syrup pumps. I got my coffee with cream and a sugar and it was really nice to have a flavored coffee that wasn't overly sweet.
Service: I've unwisely drank coffee since I was 12, so I've been to many cafes and have interacted with every kind of coffee shop vibe. I forgot that a down-to-earth, local, genuinely welcoming coffee shop existed until we stepped in here. We were greeted but not pressured to order right away, grill orders are passed to the kitchen right away, the coffee comes out quickly and is prepared however you like (dairy, sugar).
I live in Boston proper, so I deal with mostly chains or trendy new franchises that come and go within a few years. You can tell that The Magnificent Muffins & Bagel Shoppe is a local place has been around for many years simply from the service - no frills - just genuine people who know they have great offerings. Then you have the food and it all makes sense.
This is a new favorite and we'll...
Read moreMagnificent Muffin has been around for as long as I can remember and they always deliver a very delicious, home-made muffin! It is a small location, but something about it makes it so strangely cozy. Some of the employees have been there for years and years and remember the regulars which is really nice! The kids that work there—typically kids from the high school—also do an amazing job keeping up with demand.
Full transparency, the reason I did not give 5 stars across the board is because I found out that the employees are not allowed to gather tips. For a small, local business with such hard working employees—whether longtime or for a first job—I find this surprising and upsetting. Many regulars like myself would love to give an extra dollar or two to recognize hardworking employees. I think it is really lousy, and frankly a little bit disrespectful, of a practice especially during a pandemic. To whomever may see this who is affiliated with the business, I respectfully ask that you consider allowing this small bit of kindness to the employees who have worked so hard, especially during this pandemic, to keep your business running. Again, absolutely wonderful product—please consider treating your employees just as...

They let me bring money back which is kind!
Really amazing selection of muffins, and my favorite was the red velvet chocolate chip. The muffins are not my favorite ever but are quite good (a caliber texture than I prefer), but the flavors are just so creative and tasty: Reese’s, triple berry, sour cream coffee cake, etc.
They also have some really creative coffee flavors, and stash teas!
Their bagels are from Wicked Bagels in Lexington. They are boiled and a little chewier than I usually like but the taste is on point.
I also love that they make their eggs a little runny (I’m sure if you don’t like that you can ask), and they used like an entire avocado on the two eggs with avocado sandwich! Mmmmm
Fully accessible but very busy! I’m sure you could call and have someone bring your food to a table out front if you couldn’t fit through the crowd.
Plenty on metered on street parking.
The servers are friendly and efficient. Food...
