So I'll preface this with saying I've been coming here for years . In the past it has always been wonderful. Kind of a local no frills good food kind of place . The owners were always in there and it ran like a well oiled machine . I know that there is a new store on mendenhall so I'm sure the owners are probably spending most of their time there which is starting to show . I came in today at noon with a 45 minute lunch break . Usually this place is jamming at lunch but 45 minutes is usually more than enough time to get lunch and be back at work . Today I came in and it was just me and one other table and silently I said "score" bc it was so slow ... I sat down ordered my food at 12:03 . I ordered the plate lunch with a hamburger steak with gravy , turnip greens and the fried green tomatoes . Now in the south every lunch spot has the hamburger steak which is always cooked and held in the gravy . It took the kitchen 41 minutes to make my plate. 41 minutes .. then when I get the plate it's literally a hamburger patty on a plate with my two sides . I look at my watch and realize I have about negative 2 minutes to eat and run back to work being late so i didn't have time to ask for the gravy . I eat as fast as I can and as I'm eating my last bite the waitress brings me out a cup of freshly microwaved gravy . I can tell it was microwaved bc the bowl and top were hot but the middle of the gravy was cold . Regardless at that point I had already finished . I get up to pay my ticket ( around 12 bucks) I hand the cashier a 20 and she said should I leave the rest for a tip ? (8 bucks for a 12 dollar ticket ) I said no how about you keep 5 and give me 3 ... she said it's going to be a minute we dont have any 1's ..... ok you know what I'm done just keep the 8 bucks . Now has every time I've been to this place been bad? No it's usually pretty good but im seeing the collapse of a midtown dive spot and I cant help but to wonder if the owners know how bad it gotten over here . Read moreFirst time going there yesterday. Didn't go well. Called for pickup order. Was told it would be 45 minutes. Was almost there when I called. Went ahead and ordered. 2 pizzas 12 wings gallon tea. Well over $100. Wow. After giving phone number I was hung up on. Called back was put on hold but did not hit hold button so i could hear lots of talking for about 4 minutes. Finally got order placed. While waiting several employs asked me several times what I ordered. After 45 minutes was told waiting on wings be 5 minutes. After about 10 Was told by another employee waiting on the pizza. Wait yall just said waiting on wings order ready in 5 minutes. Staff kinna clueless. Now starting to get a lil agitated. Finally got order after 1 hour and 10 minutes. I take pizzas and wings to car. Come back to get tea. Was told they getting it. After about 5 more minutes a lady comes out kitchen with 1 gallon jug and begins filling it. Wait..after well over an hour during tjat time yall couldnt get the tea ready? Kidding me. During this process she somehow spills it. Gets it filled and sets it on counter for me. It's got tea all over the outside of the jug from her spill. I ask for a towel and she asks for what. I said because it's all over the jug from you spilling it. She says oh. And instead of I'm sorry let me get that wiped down real good for you...she just hands me a few napkins and walks away. Now its 1 hour 17 minutes since Called in and was told 45 minutes. The customer service definitely needs a little training. Ok maybe alot of training. I was fairly shocked. I will say though the food was very good. But with that kind of service and treatment After spending over $100 and wait much much longer than told and the phone call hangup and hold when called again and the have to wait even longer cause for tea Just everything. Read moreSo, I visited Broadway pizza on Mendenhall today and I was highly disappointed in the product. I requested on my order crispy brown crust not burnt and I receive pale crust. I called the location to inform the staff of my dissatisfaction and I was forwarded to the owner Andrew. Andrew was very rude dismissive pompous and arrogant to say the least. Instead of Andrew listening to my complaint Andrew told me this policy has been in place since 1977 and he is not going to do anything differently for me. Now I didn’t ask Andrew to change the policy I asked Andrew to listen to me as a customer and to sympathize with me as a customer . I was explaining to Andrew that it is unfair in a time of inflation for me to leave my home waste my gas to return a product they should’ve been done correctly the first time. Andrew interrupted me and stated this conversation is over several times and I informed him that he was a disappointment and I’m going to the media to expose him as a poorly behaved unprofessional owner. Broadway you aren’t doing a good job and you haven’t been in sometime now. Andrew the owner didn’t like professional criticism so he resulted to behaving childlike by interrupting me and hanging the phone up in my face.
