Not “yay coffee”, more like “nay coffee”. The retail side of the shop was unique and interesting. We enjoyed that a lot. Things went downhill when we headed to the coffee side. The shop was not busy at all. We wanted to order a normal latte with cinnamon (very standard drink across all coffee shops - and believe me, we’ve tried MANY shops across the USA). We were told that there was no cinnamon to add. We were fine with it, and we placed our order. When it was made, the guy set our drinks down and called our name. When we walked up, we asked “which one is the pumperjack latte and which is the unsweetened latte?” He looked at them and looked back at us and said, “I don’t know”. We stared at him for a second. He said “I think maybe the unsweetened had more coffee in it.” He had just made them. And he forgot. And it wasn’t like there were tons of people or a high demand or a lot of pressure. And he couldn’t tell us which was which. And he didn’t really seem to care at all, or put any effort into figuring it out. He just left us to sort it out ourselves. Generally too, the employees seemed like they didn’t enjoy their work. It just felt cold and uncomfortable in there. Friendliness is so key to a customer experience in my opinion, especially in a coffee shop. Coffee shops are more community driven and interpersonal experience based. It can make or break a shop. I personally wouldn’t go back, and would prefer to give my business to Comeback Coffee. I’d encourage you to...
Read moreI typically do not get on here and bash places, but it is ridiculous the attitude the young lady had making the coffee this morning. I’ve frequented here several times, but the last few times have been terrible. My wife and I frequent great coffee shops and this was one on our list we frequent. As of today, it will be the last time visiting this one. We order 2 coffee drinks and of course left the undeserving tip ahead of time as we paid. It’s not about the money. It’s about the price we paid for subpar customer service. We asked for mugs as we were dining in. The barista, which was the lady that had the poor attitude. She presented the specialty coffee drinks in paper cups rather than mugs. We asked for two mugs again, so we could pour the coffee in them ourselves. The barista replied, “I don’t have time and we don’t have any clean at the moment” with an I don’t care attitude. There were three people behind the bar and one was just standing there. So, what are we doing here. It’s so sad customer service at many places are failing because of this generations...
Read moreService is good, and the coffee is great. The menu is seasonal, but the seasonal drinks are well thought out and usually delicious. Do not be afraid to ask questions if you're unsure about what to order. Food is limited to a few pastries from Porcellino's (delicious), some oatmeal options, and if you're lucky you'll run into a food truck on their patio. This place is really photogenic and great for making your life look more interesting on Snapchat.
Intelligentsia is served here on the regular, but the featured roaster changes sometimes and has not disappointed yet. Heart Coffee Roasters, Parlor Coffee are big names in craft coffee and are the two most recently featured.
La Marzocco Strada for you gear nerds.
The price might be tough to swallow considering the market for craft coffee in Memphis is in its infancy, but it is a fair price. Get there before 10AM on a weekday and get batch brewed coffee for $2.75 (an intelligentsia blend, I believe). Considering the resources necessary to get that coffee from bean to cup, coffee should be much more...
