Los Reyes Bakery — Restaurant in Memphis

This is the Dessert Spot for me in Bartlett. If I am at work and I feel the need for a pick me up and make me happy treat. BOOM! I know where to go. I went in just on a whim and because I love to #eatlocal #supportsmallbusiness. The desserts are not the normal super sweets you get at American bakeries. They are traditional Latin/Mexican/Spanish (Not American) dessert. So far I have tried the tresletche (Strawberry and Caramel), cookies, donuts and the rice pudding. My wife loves the cookies. They are basically shortbread. We both love the tresletche. And just recently I found my all time fave. Pictured below is a Chocolate tresletche cake with (wait for it) FLAN! Yep, your brain just melted! OMG

My husband and I came in last week to order a tres leches birthday cake for a coworker. We got distracted by the huge bakery case filled with all sorts of wonderful pastries. Now I LOVE my people at Los Reyes Bakery. They’re always smiling and are very nice whenever I stop by every now and then. That being said, I CANNOT let this incident slide. While eating the Tres Leches Cake, I noticed one bite I took wasn't quite right. I spit it out and saw something brown.
