Dante's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Mendham

I was looking for an Italian restaurant that we haven't tried yet for my wife and I to celebrate our 9-year anniversary. My parents suggested Dante's and let me tell you, we were not disappointed! First off it's a BYOB so we decided to bring a bottle of Italian red wine from one of favorite places we visited in Italy. We sat in their new outside dining area and it was really nice. One of the owners, Tony, came over to great us and we chatted for a bit. Extremely nice guy and we loved talking with him. Our waiter Tyler was quick, courteous, and very friendly. We ordered the rice balls for an appetizer, my wife had the salmon, and I had the pollo casa. We finished up with this AMAZING dessert (which Tony and Tyler recommended) which was a melted cookie in a skillet topped with gelato, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. The next day I saw a phone call from Mendham. It was Tony following up asking how our first meal was there. I've never had that happen before and it just made me feel like we weren't just another customer. They really go above and beyond to make you feel like family which is the way that we remember feeling when we were in Italy in 2016. NEVER AGAIN - The pizza was once the best in the neighborhood, however something changed. The crust is usually burnt and it seems to take longer to get your pick up order. Still good pizza, but better in the past year. One year later... I try to support local business, but this is tough. Early Saturday night, the crust is burned again. Last week they screwed up a salad with chicken (no salad in the bag or pickup). This was the place to go, no longer can I defend it. 12/13/17- just had a group lunch there. The worst. Plenty of people waiting and not enough wait staff. They completely forgot my order and when I finally found someone to complain to, they tried to rush the order out. It was not even cooked in the middle of my fish! They had the gaul to try to charge me for my lunch. NEVER AGAIN will I support...

Dante's never disappoints! My family had my "big" bday celebration tonight with all of 7 people- thank you Covid. We were in the private party room and served family style appys- delicious foccaccia, perfect calamari and mouth watering eggplant rollantine then a great tasting salad. That could have been dinner...but there was a choice of 6 entrees of which we ate 4 different choices between us & everyone loved theirs. Mine was Cappellini w/Shrimp in a pink sauce- perfect! Then came a small crunchy fresh cannoli and a sumptuous pc of their tiramasu - its always been best I've ever tasted. Our waiter, Joseph, was perfect and owner, Lisa, made sure we were happy. Price for all this was so reasonable.. Great way to spend my birthday! Thank you, Lisa & Joseph & the fabulous chef!!!...
