El Norte Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Meridian

My wife and I decided to stop here on a whim and upon first walking up to the front door we were struck by how well they were taking care of their flowers out front. this seemed like a good indicator that they actually cared about the place and their business. The inside is very clean and you can tell that they do, in fact, care about the place. All of the food was way more delicious than I was expecting, and I asked if they had Mexican style tacos because I did not see them on the menu. The waiter recommended that I try the al pastor tacos with the corn tortillas and pineapple. I am sooooooo glad he did. They were incredibly good and the salsa verde was probably the best that I've ever had. Service was top-notch. Phone in orders are almost impossible, due to staff rarely answering. Take out wait times are much higher than average. (Usually 20-30 minutes for single orders) Staff speaks limited English, but after all, it is a Mexican restaurant, so no biggie. Small, but nice porch out front, and pleasant atmosphere indoors. My order has always been right, and the food delicious. Very reasonably priced. I can’t imagine why anyone wanting mexican food would go to Taco Bell and spend 4 times the price for mystery meat, when El Norte offers real authentic mexican cuisine for a fraction of the cost. I AM NOT COMING BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN.. I CAME IN ON 1/5/2023 AND THE STAFF WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!!! I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO BE CAREFUL KNOWING IT IS COVID STILL GOING ON..
