After having my birthday lunch at the original Sisters Thai in Old Town Fairfax a few years ago, I've been a fan of this place. The concept is fitting and adorable, the food is great, prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly. So when I heard that Sisters Thai was expanding into the growing behemoth that is Mosaic District, I was ecstatic. Now, I have two Sisters Thai to go to. And Mosaic once again wins for most eclectic plaza of dining options.
My boyfriend and I shared a variety of dishes. Of course, we both ordered Thai iced teas (as I recalled from the Fairfax one being one of the best Thai iced teas I've ever had), and I pretty much gulped mine down before our first course was set!
Our orders: +Drunken noodles (wide rice noodles with chili, garlic, basil leaves, onions, and tomatoes) +Crabmeat fried rice (jumbo lump crabmeat fried rice with green onion, celery, tomatoes, and egg) +Boat noodle soup +Crying tiger (grilled steak with red chili dipping sauce)
Unfortunately the kitchen ran out of crying tiger but our server recommended something similar, which was essentially the same grilled steak but with green curry sauce instead of red sauce. I thought the boat noodle soup was delicious (I chose pork over beef) and the drunken noodles and crabmeat fried rice were good too. The food was all really tasty and I can't wait to come back and try more. Prices were all reasonable too, ranging from $9-15 for each dish. We only finished the crying tiger alternative and the boat noodle soup, and now we have plenty of leftovers for the weekend!
Service was spot on. Our server was very friendly, accommodating, and present. Naturally, I adore the Living Room concept like their original location. There are bookshelves filled with an assortment of books and miscellaneous toys. There's a giant screen that plays Netflix movies while you eat (Mission Impossible was on while we chowed down our dinner). An adorable little bakery is sectioned off to the left when you walk into the restaurant, where you can order drinks and desserts. There's even a bar and outdoor seating for warm summer nights. Perfectly charming, Sisters Thai is a quintessential addition to...
Read moreLong story short, I had a visit to this Sister's location last Sunday around 3 PM. I'm the big fan of sisters since I live close to the Fairfax branch, and I tried even the MD branch. This branch is the worst by far!
I waited in the front to be seated, and was looking at the menu for 15 minutes without even a person approaching us to ask for the order. It was 5 waiters kept ignoring us without asking what we might need!
I eventually was forced to call someone and someone approached and said what do you want (very rude). I ordered my appetizer, drink and the main course.
after 5 minutes that they brought the appetizer, I noticed there is no fork/knife/plate for us, so I gently asked to bring us the service! after the frustration, we were waiting for fork and plate to start the appetizer then the main courses showed up on the table, despite I already told them I want the main course after my appetizer, cause I'm here in the restaurant to spend time and enjoy my Sunday/meal!
Then I was shocked and said I just started my appetizer and you brought my food, then he turned around got angry and kicked the kitchen door very aggressively.
I asked my manager because they ruined my Sunday, and when I explain the situation to manager he simply said in even more rude manner that we do this to keep up our speed!
He doesn't know speed for the fast food not the restaurant. He doesn't even know speed is different than a chaos in providing the service by put everything on the table. We pay restaurants to enjoy the food and our time, and we decide what/how our food should be served!
I said I'm leaving your restaurant now and he simply said Ok! no apologized, no regression nothing.
My 2 cents is that DON'T ever go to this Sister's branch (Mosaic) cause the staff can ruin your entire day! Try other branches like Fairfax and MD cause the...
Read moreThis place is incredibly unethical. They make mistake and will lie to get out of the situation. They promise to make it right but they don’t.
On January 23rd, I was visiting DC area and placed a to-go order from this place on the way to the hotel. I ordered three dishes and a dessert. When I just arrived to the hotel, I got a call from this restaurant saying that they forgot to pack my dessert in my to-go bag. They were very apologetic and offered me one free meal on my next visit. Since I don’t live in this area, I nicely ask them for money back for the dessert that I already paid for. They asked for my credit card info and I asked them to call me back 10 minutes later because I was in the elevator going up to my room.
They never called me back so I call the restaurant an hour later. Well, I was told by them they can’t give me the refund since they are so busy and told me to wait till their closing time to call them back then they will gladly put my money back. I thought it was incredibly rude and ridiculous. But I kept my cool and told them I’ll just take the first offer “a free meal for my next visit” and will have my friend who lives in DC area to go use the offer.
My friend drove all the way from Maryland to check out this place only because I told her that she could give them my phone number and get one free entree. I was told by her tonight they refuse to give her that offer and told her that she could only get the exact same dessert that I ordered in January or get a 7$ back.
Wow…. They are the one made a mistake and would refuse to give the money back unless I wait to call them back till they close……It was for something I paid for and I never got. They waisted my time and my friend’s time. They never kept their...
