Amicii Pizza Review: Delicious Pizza, But Customer Service Needs Work
I had heard rave reviews about Amicii Pizza and decided to check it out on a busy Saturday night. The 45 minute wait for a table was expected given the restaurant’s popularity, and I was excited to see if the food would live up to the hype.
The Pizzas: A Standout Experience
I ordered two pizzas, the Meat Lovers and the Il Blanco, as well as an Italian sub. Let’s start with the highlight: the pizzas. Both were excellent, but the Il Blanco stole the show. Cooked to perfection, its flavors were well-balanced, and the crust had just the right amount of crispness. If you’re a first timer at Amicii, the Il Blanco is a must try.
The Italian Sub: A Frustrating Misstep
Unfortunately, my experience with the Italian sub was less satisfying. At first glance, it was a hefty, flavorful-looking sandwich. However, after two bites, I realized it was missing provolone cheese, a key ingredient. I flagged down my server, which took nearly ten minutes due to how busy the restaurant was.
When I finally explained the issue, the server admitted they were out of provolone. While she offered to substitute fresh mozzarella, I couldn’t help but wonder why I wasn’t informed about the missing ingredient upfront. It felt like the sandwich was knowingly sent out incomplete, which left a bad impression.
The Substitution: An Awkward Fix
The mozzarella substitution didn’t resolve the issue for me. Instead of making a fresh sandwich, they added mozzarella to the sandwich I had already started eating. While I appreciated the effort, this felt a bit sloppy. The mozzarella itself was too thick, overpowering the flavors of the sandwich. I found myself wishing they had either remade the sub properly or informed me of the situation before serving it.
The Refund: A Missed Opportunity
Ultimately, the owner came to my table, apologized, and refunded the cost of the sub. While I appreciated the gesture, I was disappointed they didn’t let me keep the sandwich. I would have happily taken it home, added provolone myself, and enjoyed it later. Instead, it was thrown away, which felt wasteful.
Final Thoughts
Amicii Pizza has a lot to offer, especially with their incredible pizzas, but the experience with the Italian sub and the way it was handled left me disappointed. Transparent communication and a little more thoughtfulness in resolving customer issues would go a long way in improving their service.
Will I go back? Most likely, but only once the initial hype dies down. The pizzas alone are worth a return visit, and I’m genuinely happy to see a local spot doing so well. Hopefully, they’ll address some of these service hiccups to create a more seamless dining experience...
Read moreWe ordered take out twice. We wanted to form a thorough review of the food at different times, different items and price points for comparison.
First time we ordered half and half (meat lovers and blanco cheese) large pizza, the brûlée cheesecake, mozzarella sticks and honey bbq chicken wings. Total cost:$53
The pizza is good quality, thin, not necessarily saucy or cheesy. The cheese blanco side needed either extra garlic butter or cheese. The meat lovers side was good but the topping to cheese ratio could have been better. It is not worth over $20-30.
The wings were good and crispy.
The cheesecake was good. Raspberry sauce was lacking flavor tasted more like colored sugar than anything. You should always have the aroma and flavor of raspberry in some capacity.
The mozzarella sticks are not better than store bought ones so I worry if they are store bought or frozen and sold at a high quality price.
2nd time we ordered on a different day and at a different time (earlier in the day) we ordered a small pizza half and half (cheese blanco extra ricotta and meat lovers), garlic Parmesan wings, Oreo marshmallow cheesecake. Order total:$43
The pizza looked better than the first time we got it however, the blanco with the extra ricotta was imbalanced to eat. For one the ricotta should have been spread as a layer under the cheese to give it more balance between bites. We probably needed extra mozzarella cheese instead of the extra ricotta. The meat lovers side was just as good as the first time.
The Oreo marshmallow cheesecake was bad just a chocolate cheesecake with barely any Oreos. The base should be regular cheesecake with Oreos throughout. The marshmallow was nonexistent. Overpriced chocolate cheesecake sold as an Oreo cheesecake. Will never buy again.
The Garlic Parmesan wings severely lacked seasoning. This is the kind of wing flavor where it should be seasoning coated on the wing as the flavor relies heavily on the garlic Parmesan seasoning. A lite coating of this will have it tasting like naked wings with a hint of garlic Parmesan flavor.
All in all. This place is overpriced. Sorry not sorry. Clearly they are cutting corners on probably take out orders specifically because they know most do not check the food before leaving or not enough complain. Which I can’t knock them if many customers still enjoy it despite them obviously putting less into their food quality compared to the price points.
This spot isn’t for our family but others may thoroughly enjoy them. We are from out of state and have traveled many places so when comparing food we are taking those factors...
Read moreDisappointed. To start, we got seated after only waiting a few minutes, great, but then everyone who sat after us got greeted immediately and had us wait 10 minutes before getting service. No problem, you’re busy and I’m a server too, I get it. She comes over and we order everything at once. First comes our fries, which frankly we only got because they looked extremely good in the viral video. Crispy and thin fries were what I was expecting but instead got raw steak fries that definitely needed a few more minutes in the fryer. No big deal, we’re now waiting for our garlic knots to come which I was super excited about. 30 minutes roll by, our drinks are down to the ice, and the pizza comes. We asked politely if the garlic knots were still coming as we waited already 30 minutes for an appetizer that the tables around us already got. She said oh they’re on there way. Ok cool. We finish our pizza (the pizza would have been a 10/10 if it wasn’t for the burnt chewy crust) and now we’re just waiting for garlic knots and dessert, which I ordered after we got the pizza since I knew that would probably be a long wait too. We sat there enjoying some ice when now more tables are getting their garlic knots. We stopped our server another time asking if we would get those. Once again it’s on it way. She doesn’t come back around for another 20 minutes and says the dessert is almost done. Thanks but shouldn’t we have our garlic knots by now? We asked a total of 4 times and even said we’ll just take it in a Togo box since she already charged my card with the garlic knots on them. She said okay we’ll put them in a box for you, the dessert comes, and she tells us to have a great day. Once again, I paid for garlic knots and we still haven’t gotten them after an hour and 20 minutes of waiting. We went to the manager who was able to take it off our bill, our server was apologetic but if you forgot to ring it in after the 4 times of needed to be reminded, that’s not okay? I personally would be stressing the kitchen out saying I forgot to ring in a tables food and we need to get it out quick. But whatever we took the loss, with an extremely memorable experience. We took our dessert home since now we just want to get out of there. The zeppolis are still extremely hot, yay. Rock hard. Totally overcooked, it wasn’t even airy on the inside. So I’m not sure if they just hired completely new staff that day who don’t know what they’re doing or what but everything from the service to the food was horrible. If you come, I suggest not getting Brinley as...
