We have been at this place more than a couple of times since a few of their items are prepared very well and taste good. Never had a problem before until yesterday. First, they had a list of drink specials, maybe 3 or 4. Not one of the 2 that can bartend know how to make them. Ordered a dozen oysters, we do order them before and they were fresh until yesterday... Had a funky taste to it.. There were three in our party. So each of us tried it to assert if the whole order was not fresh And apparently, not one of the three that we tasted were not fresh. So, server talks to manager and comes back saying that they will take it off the bill & charge the 3 we ate at $2 a piece. What a joke! When I got the bill, I asked for an itemized receipt, and sure enough they charged the full price for oysters and did not deduct it. So I told them about the charge. Not one of them know how to credit it. Nor the manager on site. They had to call out. However, what they did without telling me first was that they ran a new bill & charged it from our account again without the oysters. So, I had 2 deductions from my bank and they said they credited it and it would show the following day. So here I am, and no credit yet. This is totally bad business practice. Not notifying a customer of what they are going to do & just freely do what they want to. Messing up your back account. It was not a $20 ot$75 dollar bill.. And finally, do not advertise anything that not one on the floor knows...
Read moreThe wait staff was extremely polite. That being said.... My dinner was not so great. Let's dismiss the fact that the enchiladas amongst other dishes were not to my liking. That is personal preference. Maybe you will think that they are wonderful. We had two different cheviche dishes on the table. With enough time and citrus, the seafood will cook properly. ONE of our dishes had ALL raw seafood. Raw shrimp. Raw scallops. I felt it was my duty to very kindly let our server know so the chef would be aware of the seafood coming out of his kitchen. It was brought back to our table and we were told, "That is the way it is served". We asked for it to be taken off of the check and were refused. I remained polite. Tipped the server well (you could see she was embarrassed) and paid the bill. I've worked in the hospitality industry for decades and this food was raw and the situation was dismissed. Maybe this was a fluke incident..But, Not only will I never return, but will definitely take advantage of any opportunity to discourage people from trying this new restaurant. I realize that they are new and are probably going through some growing pains, but at this rate... They will...
Read moreI went to Perla Negra with high expectations however it was actually a little let down. Do they have possibly some food that tastes good? Yes are the waitresses friendly? Yes however the food actually “looked” delicious however I ended up not eating it because it wasn’t good at all. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but usually when I order a shrimp plate no matter what type it’s freaking amazing but this just wasn’t and for the price I think it should have been better. The restaurant has many places you can choose to sit and they actually had a live mariachi band coming to our table to see if we wanted some music but we skipped since we love to talk and catch up as a family when we eat out. Maybe you will like it maybe you won’t but you should at least give it a try and then at least you can say you have been there and paid 5$ for a small glass...
