For a brand new place, kind of mom and pop, if you don't come here for dinner or for lunch, you are going to kick yourself! I'm not that fond of lamb, but I tried it here and was pleasantly surprised, even the wife who does not care for lamb was pleasantly surprised. The flavor the general feel as you chew it it's just amazing. The pecanion beef both spicy and garlic are amazing! I've eaten at a few Brazilian Restaurants around Dallas, but this little hidden treasure in Mesquite is literally a MUST for any foodie/gastrophile who wants to try something with more flavor and a little different than your average spare. Even the cheese bread which is gluten-free for those of you with gluten intolerance, these things are literally an inch and a half wide and almost an inch and 3/4 deep. Not the tiny little balls you get at most other Brazilian. The plantains dont contain excessive sugar, cinnamon etc are not overly sweet so much that you cannot taste the plantain. The flavor and the balance of sweetness with the added sugar is just right. The pineapple which is usually overly sugared, is done literally to what I would call perfection I have not had better to date. I'm telling you, if you follow me, please go to Mesquite even if it's a 20-30 minute drive, you must go to this place and enjoy the cuisine. Very homey atmosphere mom and pop kind of operation like I said. I don't think you will be disappointed. Just come expecting good food, comfortable atmosphere and amazing flavors but also as my wife just reminded me, be ready for that food, you may have to be wheeled out of this place! Prices may vary some depending on day of week and time of day / lunch - dinner. But as far as I am concerned as a blue collar worker, it was well worth every dime I spent! My wife said this would be a great celebration kind of place and also a great place to take a date for really flavorful food. And to kick it all off the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. So all in all get down here and just enjoy some really...
Read moreIt’s not often you have a meal of this quality! Chef Raul, and his family, are serving up great Brazilian-style foods for catering across the Metroplex at Espadas Brazilian TOGO.
Do yourself a favor, and give them a call before planning your next event, wedding dinner, graduation, or work get-together! Don’t just take my word for it, they’re happy to arrange a tasting at their Mesquite location, where they also serve up delicious sandwiches and carry-out.
My meal began with a very flavorful Caesar Salad with a fresh, house-made dressing and crisp Romaine, Parmesan and Seasoned Bread Crumbs, with Brazilian Bread Bites that are light, cheesy and chewy, and a delicious, refreshing glass of their Limonadas Estilo Brazil – which I would describe as a liquid Key Lime Pie.
Then, a delicious plate of Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Vegetables which were grilled with Salt and Pepper in Garlic Olive Oil – simple and delicious!
Then comes what Brazilian food is known for. Skewers of fresh, sizzling, delicious meats – which began with their classic Picanha, then Ribeye, Copacabana Sausage, Bacon-Wrapped Chicken, a little more Picanha, Chicken Leg, Grilled Pineapple and again, more Picanha and Ribeye!
The beef is juicy and tender, with a nice crisp char on the outside. Don’t be shy about the fat, because it packs a flavor bomb that goes off in your mouth. The sausage is good and the chicken very tender. The leg meat is absolutely incredible! They serve a very good Chimichurri and Hot Sauces, which I tried, but used sparingly because I didn’t want to cover the flavor of the meats. When I finally tapped-out, a fresh Flan arrived. I’m not normally a huge fan of flan, but this could change my mind. Firm but moist with rich caramel and custard flavors is something you really shouldn’t deny yourself when you come to Espadas.
I want to thank Chef Raul for inviting me. He, his brother Joaquin, and their family were terrific, and I can’t wait...
