I've been a customer here for decades. The food is good for the most part. Tonight I went in at 8 pm when closing at 10. I hoped there would be fresh food, but after grabbing a plateful I realized most everything was too hard and dry and cold. I left most of the plate. I thought I would try some other choices, but pretty much pans of food were mostly empty, shriveled, or dead. I complained to the waitress and so did the guy behind us. She said she would tell them. (Whomever they are) but no fresh food came out, I went to eating fruit. At that point they had removed all cold salads and such. Again I complained to a worker cleaning the buffet, by then 60% of thethe area less hot food pans were empty. Yet they were still open another hour. By the time I got the check I was very upset. I went to pay the bill and complained once more. They said I should come before 8 and I said because I only got 40% or less on the buffet, I want my billed reduced to 60 % off. They made every excuse imaginable why this was my fault, and after 15 minutes I had had enough and paid my $27 dollar bill and left, telling them I will not return EVER. They told me to have a good nite. Stay clear unless you like cold dry food and...
Read moreChina Buffet is an okay place to eat, it's not the most fantastic place but it is an all you can eat buffet, and of the three locations I'm aware of. There's one in Lowell MA in the Target plaza on Plain ST., Exit 4 of the Lowell connector. A second one is in Haverhill I think it's on Main ST. Rte. 125 just a quarter mile off Rte. 495. And the third one being this one in Methuen, this one in my opinion has the best food and the most selections. A single person price including tax and a decent tip is $23.00 the meal itself is somewhere around $18 and change. A word to the wise when eating at any buffet always try to take the food that's toward the back of the heating tray container the food rests in because the food that's at the front of the heating tray it's kept in is the food that's breathed upon mostly by everybody that's picking the food. So in this way you tend to keep away from people's germs having been breathed onto the food from the molecules inside the oxygen as they exhale. That's why sometimes when you go to a buffet you leave and you tend to get the loose bowel movements. I really really like this one out of the three I've been there at least six times now in the...
Read moreOn July 2, 2025, I decided to take a trip down to this buffet restaurant, as there is no longer one where I live. I made the 30 minute drive, I get to the restaurant, the man at the counter when I walked in (pleasant), no issues there. I was seated right away. I go to where I wanna sit, I'm waiting and waiting to give my drink order. I finally asked one of the women who was tending to the buffet carts, to get my server. She was hiding around the corner, screwing around on her phone, instead of paying attention. She comes over, I tell her what I want, she got it. I go up, grab my first plate, sit back down, the food is cold! The boneless spare ribs, inedible. The chicken fingers, tough and tasted like they had been sitting in a refrigerator. The rice was the only real decent thing. The sauces, bland tasting. I had two plates and then said, "screw this, I'm leaving." I get the check, and they ADD $3.15 to the bill, for a waitress who wasn't even worth a tip at all! $25 and some change, for me to leave hungrier than what I came in as. What a horrible, horrible experience! I will NEVER EVER BE BACK! You all should find better waitresses too!
Stay far, far away...
