Harrows Chicken Pies — Restaurant in Methuen

I was really looking forward to trying Harrows based on all the great things I’ve heard, but I was left disappointed. The chicken in the pie was very good, but the carrots and potatoes were not. I have to agree with other reviews, the overall flavor is extremely bland. There was no seasoning at all, which made the meal fall flat.

I also ordered the mashed potatoes and squash, and unfortunately they were awful. Again, no seasoning. It tasted like everything was cooked to the bare minimum with no flavor. I had to add my own butter, salt, and pepper to the potatoes and butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the squash just to make it edible. The crust of the pie was also thick and gooey underneath, instead of flaky.

The one redeeming item was the cornbread, that was delicious, which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. I really wanted to love this place, but the lack of seasoning and quality in the sides was very...

I don’t understand all the love for this place. Convenient yes. Decent prices yes. Honestly the pies a super bland. Not trying to be mean but really. Use some seasoning. Salt and pepper would be a start. If I ate it with my eyes closed I would have no idea what I was eating. Same goes for the apple pie. It’s disappointing that simple things cant be corrected. But hey! Apparently lots of people like eating bland tasteless food! Enjoy!
