Giovanni's Roast Beef and Pizza — Restaurant in Methuen

Staff was incredibly rude when asked to fix a mistake they made.

We ordered dinner from Giovanni’s Methuen to celebrate Mother’s Day. My child is allergic and we specified no bread for their food. When our dinner arrived theirs had bread on it, so I called.

At this point, the person on the phone tried to blame door dash, despite them not making the food. Moreover, if they don’t want to be responsible for the food they make for door dash orders, they can choose not to make money from these orders. Next, they told me that when the door dash driver arrived they saw it said no bread, but decided not to fix it because they would have just pulled the hot dogs out of the buns and figured we could do it ourselves. They pretty much told me, had they tried to fix it, they would have taken the laziest approach possible and still didn’t do that. Finally, they tried to blame the friend who ordered dinner for my family for not specifying why Giovanni’s was supposed to make it the way it was ordered. The message was, “anyone but us is responsible for the food we make.”

When they finally decided they would deliver a new meal so my child could enjoy a special meal with us, the man on the phone acted absolutely exasperated when I provided my address. If either of us had reason to be upset, it certainly wasn’t the person who noted our order and decided it wasn’t worth making correctly. With so many other places to get great take out, we certainly won’t be giving this spot any more money. What was supposed to be a special treat for Mother’s Day turned into me arguing with a rude man to get my kid the meal...

10 years of doing business with Methuen's Giovanni's and I can tell you with absolute confirmation that this place is being run into the ground both by quality and experience. If you want to order, do so during the day. At night both the people answering the phone as well as the drivers seem to go out of there way to make customer service as negative an experience sd you can get. From delaying orders over 1 & 2(Yes, 2 hour wait.) hour waits, to failing to bring your whole order, if they bring your order at all. For example, I placed an order at 6:20 today & waited an hour and 40 minutes for it to get here. I did call at 7:10ish to inquire on the order and the guy told me 10 minutes away lol. 7:55 the driver shows up... wait for it, the wrong order. Needless to say I'm aggravated, but the driver really seals deal by acting as if I am in the wrong. I call them, inform them of what had just transpired and ask that my order be cancelled since my order is going to be cold, instead of saying something like, "don't worry, we'll remake your order and make sure it's hot and gets you as quickly as possible", I got an attitude from the woman who answered, told that it's busy and will get there shortly. When I asked about being told 45 minutes prior that my order was 10 min away, she so eloquently insinuated that didnt happen and really pushed the contempt when I insisted on cancellation...

This is my go to spot for pizza. Always delicious. I’m a picky pizza person; so me saying it’s delicious says a lot. The salad dressing and chicken that comes on kabob salad is rly good too, however I think their salads are sub par and I’d rather just get the chicken and dressing and make my own salad at home using ingredients that’s are 100% fresh. That being said, their salads are edible and still tasty. I just prefer little to no ice berg lettuce in my salad as well as cherry tomatoes over sliced tomatoes. I also think the cucumber taste funny but I think that’s just me.

2x I’ve gotten pick up instead of delivery. Once the pizza was not half cheese but all roni; the other time they forgot to give me sweet and sour sauce w my chicken tenders. Both times they sent someone out to deliver replacements/ missing items at no extra cost and also gave me some rly yummy friend dough bites as a gift! That’s great customer service if u ask me.
